OnePlus 12 customers are seeing exaggerated billed amounts after pre-ordering the latest flagship smartphone.
OnePlus recently announced its latest flagship smartphone, the OnePlus 12. It brings competitive features for a price significantly less than phones like Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra. However, a OnePlus 12 buyer recently shocked people after being charged nearly $10,000 while pre-ordering the phone.
Several other users also report seeing the same price tag when attempting to pre-order the OnePlus 12. It seems to be a technical glitch on OnePlus’ end. The starting price for the base OnePlus 12 model with 256GB storage is $800.
OnePlus’s online store faces technical issue
Redditor u/hemitris shared a screenshot of his OnePlus 12 pre-order receipt. The user ordered a OnePlus 12, which is billed at $9,899. They also purchased a $9.99 bumper case for the phone, as well as a $20.99 charger.
The user’s total bill is $10,637, inclusive of a $1,017 sales tax. This is the amount that the Redditor is supposed to pay once he receives the delivery of the phone. u/hemitris says he was shown the “normal price in the cart, and now it shows $10k+ in the receipt.”
OnePlus 12 is only available for pre-order right now, with open sales starting on February 6. As mentioned, the smartphone starts at $800 and goes up to $899 for the 512GB storage variant.

The affected customer mentioned that they attempted to contact OnePlus but didn’t receive proper assistance. They tried phone support but encountered “no sound” from OnePlus’s end “after menu selection.” The user expressed, “didn’t think this was going to be such a nightmare.”
Other users were shocked after seeing the post. One person jokingly said, “I’m so glad I’m poor. My credit card wouldn’t be able to handle all that, and if it did, I’d get a fraud alert.”
Another Reddit user who tried to order the phone via OnePlus’s student store was presented with around the same price of $10,000.
OnePlus might fix this technical issue on their online stores soon. In any case, affected users should try to get in touch with the company through email or by calling their support numbers.
