Have you bought a Meta Quest headset but don’t know what game to play first? Fear not, we have a handy recommendations list to help you get started.
The Meta Quest line of VR headsets is a fairly mature product by now, and as such has a fairly significant library of apps and games available to purchase. Even before you add in things like the Steam VR library and GamePass, there are a staggering number of experiences to try in VR. How do you choose where to start?
This guide will list some of our favorites for the Quest 3 headset, including some surprises. Remember, you may need to do some tweaking or sideload some software to get the best experience from your Quest headset.
1. Assassin’s Creed Nexus
Many an Assassins Creed fan has dreamed of being able to perform parkour and sneak around silently like Ezio, Bayek, or Basim. If you are one of those players, then good news: in Assassin’s Creed Nexus, you can.
The classic combat, stealth, and parkour integral to the franchise have been skilfully adapted into VR, and this is not just a short, throwaway VR ‘experience’ either. Assassin’s Creed Nexus has a full 20-hour story campaign to get through, not to mention collectibles and all the side content you can expect from any other Assassin’s Creed title.
2. Dungeons of Eternity
Players who love to get involved in classic hack-and-slash dungeon-crawling RPGs might want to pick up Dungeons of Eternity. It is a first-person immersive title that lets the player explore an endless series of randomly generated dungeons in a way that will be familiar to Diablo III veterans. A satisfying progression system and the option to form a party of friends and explore together make this a rewarding experience for hack-and-slash appreciators and TTRPG fans.
3. Resident Evil 4 VR
Horror tends to work particularly well in VR. Something about the immersion and isolation means that all your deepest, darkest fears come crawling out. Resident Evil VII: Biohazard was the first title in the series to take advantage of VR, and it set the stage by scaring the pants off everyone who played it.
Resident Evil 4 VR is less viscerally terrifying, but still manages to be very effective and is a fantastic way to re-experience a classic title in a whole new way.
4. Beat Saber
There is little chance that this was going to be left out. Beat Saber is often the first game that VR enthusiasts get their friends and loved ones to try for a very good reason. Gameplay is fun and intuitive and you get a heady rush from mastering slashing and dodging to the beat of the music. With a massive range of available music that caters to every taste, ensures there is always a reason to come back for just one more go.
5. Among Us VR
Among Us was a small indie title that went viral when we were all stuck at home and has now been ported to several VR platforms. The developers have done a spectacular job of translating what is a fairly simple-looking game to the immersion of a VR headset, while still retaining the familiarity of the original. Best of all, you don’t even need friends who specifically have Quest headsets, and crossplay is supported between a variety of platforms, including PC VR, Pico, and PlayStation VR 2.You will jump a mile the first time an Imposter gets you, though.
6. Samba de Amigo: Virtual Party
If you have maxed out your score on Beat Saber and are seeking a new VR rhythm title to play, Samba de Amigo: Virtual Party is a great choice. SEGA’s first big venture in VR works splendidly, as VR motion controllers work splendidly as virtual maracas.

The base game contains 40 songs, including hits from artists like Lady Gaga, Ricky Martin, and Maroon 5 for you to shake your maracas to. The multiplayer is a little threadbare, but it is still a solid and fun rhythm title, especially for pop music fans.
7. Superhot VR
Superhot VR has been out for quite a while now and arguably was one of the first titles to show what was really possible for an action title within VR.
The stark design of Superhot with its whites, blacks, and reds really pops on the Quest 3 screen, and the excellent level design makes it a superb choice for VR, especially for people still getting to grips with the headset.
8. Little Cities
Many VR games provide players with a ‘giant’s eye view’ and give you a nice little virtual sandbox to play in. Little Cities is one of the best examples. As you may guess from the title, it is a city-building game that combines a beautiful visual style with a user interface created to be extremely intuitive within VR.
Fans of titles such as Sim City or Cities: Skylines will find a great deal to enjoy here, as the focus is placed on city management through design.
9. Asgard’s Wrath II
Asgard’s Wrath II scored high marks when it was reviewed by us for good reason. It has clearly been designed from the ground up to take advantage of the immersion of VR, and at the same time delivers a sense of scale not often found in VR titles.
For those looking for an expansive VR game to really dig into and explore, then Asgard’s Wrath II is exactly what you need, as you can easily spend hours simply exploring the open world.
10. Star Wars Squadrons
You might not expect to see this title in a list of best Meta Quest games, but thanks to Xbox Gamepass, Star Wars Squadrons is available on the Quest with native VR support. You might need to tinker with the settings a little, but Star Wars Squadrons works excellently with VR providing a truly immersive feeling when you are engaged in space dog fights. It is an older game and so does show some limitations due to its age, but it is still incredibly fun.
