A Tekken 8 dataminer discovered some cutscenes in the fighting game’s files that may indicate story DLC is coming to continue where the main story left off.
Tekken 8‘s story was well received by most fans, but it left a lot of loose ends. Considering how long it took to get Tekken 8 after 7 came out, it seemed like we’d have to wait a while on those cliffhangers.
And, while that may still be true, a dataminer by the name of ‘VolSkimmer’ has discovered some cut content in the game files that may end up being a part of story DLC – one of which has some major narrative revelations about Jun Kazama.
While it isn’t yet clear if these images are just cut content from the main game or planned content for the future, there’s clearly much more to Tekken 8’s story than meets the eye.
Spoilers for Tekken 8’s story and possible unreleased content ahead.
Tekken 8 may have story DLC coming
Tekken 8’s story mode has some great moments, many of which put new characters like Reina in the spotlight. And, while we weren’t huge fans of the way the story was presented and where it left some of the story’s new characters, there are a lot of questions raised about where Tekken 8’s finale leaves its main characters. Especially if you’ve seen all the endings.

And, while there are surely some revelations that’ll be saved for Tekken 9, there’s a distinct possibility that Tekken 8 will have some story DLC.
While it isn’t yet clear if what he’s found is cut content that was never meant to see the light of day or something that’s planned for the future, Tekken 8 seems to have its fair share of secrets.
One cutscene shows Jun getting revived, confirming that she was brought back to life. Her spiritual appearance in Tekken 8’s canon story left it ambiguous as to whether or not she’s actually alive or just a spirit guiding the characters along, but this unreleased ending would confirm that she’s sticking around.
This leaker also posted full images of a Devil Reina costume that never made it to the final game, one that was only briefly shown in a post-credits scene. The tweet showing Devil Reina’s model has since been pulled down by Bandai Namco, making it possible that either a costume or full Devil Reina playable character a la Devil Jin could be coming in the future.
Whether additional story is told through DLC characters or if we get standalone story DLC in the future, there’s a good chance Tekken 8 has more in the tank for the Mishima’s storyline and other characters in the series.
