Players are praising The Last of Us 2 devs for offering refunds to those who own the PS4 version but also preordered the Remaster for PlayStation 5, as a gesture of goodwill.
The Last of Us 2: Remastered has finally hit the PSN stores and fans are busy upgrading their PS4 versions to try out the new content and the enhancements.
The remaster is an official release for the PlayStation 5 and some players went ahead to preorder a copy for the current-gen console. However, PlayStation has started refunding players who already own a PS4 version of the game and are encouraging them to buy the $10 upgrade instead.

A player commented, “W fr and literally 20 min after it hit time for it to drop I bought it 10 bucks felt good.” Another player didn’t pre-order the Remaster but mentioned they’ll be “definitely waiting for tonight for the upgrade. Huge w for Sony and PlayStation for that move though.”
Players also called the decision “generous”, as “you don’t find companies doing things like this often.” God of War Ragnarok: Valhalla DLC also received a positive response from the community when it dropped in December 2023.
On the other hand, one player actually argued it’s an “L” move as the “game should be free if you already own it” and “normal price” if players haven’t owned a copy beforehand. Another agreed, “true W if it was free for people who bought the original and this could have all been avoided.”
