The Last of Us Part 1 now Steam Deck verified after controversial launch issues

11 weeks after its controversially poor launch on PC, The Last of Us Part 1 is now Steam Deck verified thanks to a June 13 update fixing another broad range of issues.

Despite Naughty Dog’s penchant for industry-leading quality on console, when The Last of Us Part 1 arrived on PC in March, it didn’t quite match the studio’s high bar. Quite the opposite, in fact, as controversy piled up given a number of critical performance issues and game-breaking bugs upon release.

Things were so dire it drew out an apology from the acclaimed PlayStation studio, Steam accepted refunds regardless of time played, and it even lost its seal of approval for the Steam Deck.

Now 11 weeks removed from this catastrophic launch, however, and it appears things are getting back on track. With a June 13 update, the PC port is now once again verified for use on Steam Deck.

Shortly after fans got their first look at the PC build in action, the first time the post-apocalyptic series had ever been playable outside of the PlayStation ecosystem, it didn’t quite live up to expectations. Some players even labeled it the “single worst PC port” they had ever seen.

Naturally, developers have been hard at work since, looking to remedy the biggest problems while stamping out the most egregious bugs.

While it’s taken some time, it appears the PC port for The Last of Us Part 1 is now in a much better state. As of June 13, the game is even playable again on Steam Deck.
