Fans of The Last of Us Part 2 spoke out that the PS5 version should never have been called a remaster.
The remastered version of The Last of Us Part 2 takes advantage of the graphics capabilities of the PlayStation 5 to provide an eye-popping experience for gamers. The lighting, character models, and settings have all been greatly improved, leading to an unprecedented degree of visual realism.
The game makes excellent use of next-gen platform specs, which result in improved responsiveness, faster loading times, and better frame rates. Exciting new features, such as mods and a No Return mode, are also included in the remastered edition.
On the other hand, longtime PlayStation owners are ripping into the game, claiming they would prefer a Director’s Cut version rather than the cheap “remaster” which is misleading.
PlayStation fans unhappy with The Last of Us Part 2 remaster release
In a Reddit post, a user named PhotoModeHobby posted a morphed image of The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered cover, while changing the “Remastered” label to “Director’s Cut.” They wrote, “I think this would get a whole lot less hate if they just (make it happen).”

Several fans came forward against remasters, and one such fan said, “I think older gamers are just fed up with remasters and whatnot. Before, we used to get amazing titles of the same game maybe 2 or 3 years apart. GTA, Uncharted, God of War, Final Fantasy, etc. Now, gamers are so used to being abused that the same game released 4 years ago with new modes/better graphics is supposed to get us excited”
Another chimed in, “No one gave a f**k when Ghost of Tsushima got the same treatment. Or Death Stranding. Even Skyrim got another remaster just 2 years ago with a £10 upgrade path.”
A fourth one concluded, “I kind of agree. Also don’t like how the PS5 versions of Part 1 and Part 2 have different titles. To make it clear they should have just called both games the Definitive edition I think.”
As The Last of Us Part II Remastered drops later today, you can get ahead of the rest by having a look at the achievements and trophies you can get.
