A raccoon has gone viral on TikTok for dancing along to an EDM remix of a song called ‘Pedro,’ sparking a hilarious dance trend involving users’ beloved pets.
While TikTok is best known for spawning countless dancing trends and oodles of different filters, one genre of content that will always be popular on the platform is animal videos.
From the made-up blue smurf cat that went viral as a meme on the app in 2023 to a dog named Dobby going viral for knowing Harry Potter spells, you never know what animal the internet will become obsessed with next.
However, the critter that’s currently making its rounds on the app has sparked TikTok’s new “Pedro” trend, which comes from a Raccoon named Ginger who is now a viral sensation.
What is the “Pedro Pedro Pedro” trend on TikTok?
A baby raccoon has become a trendsetter on TikTok after sparking a new pet trend on the app, with its original video having been viewed over 14 million times.
Originally posted in September 2023, the clip achieved virality on TikTok in March 2024 and spread to YouTube and Instagram in short order.
The video uses a spinning circle format camera, where a raccoon named Ginger is lifted into the shot and moved as if it’s dancing along to the song in the background. The track is an EDM remix of the song ‘Pedro’ by Raffaella Carrà.
Over two million videos have been created using the song, and most of them include creators pulling off their own version of Pedro’s dance with their pets at home.

As the fad doesn’t have an official name, the hashtag “Pedro” has gained over 569,300 videos on TikTok. One dog, named Josephine, was one of the many pets who tried out the trend and managed to get over 145 million views on her video.
Similar to the Josh Hutcherson trend from 2023, Ginger the raccoon’s dancing clip has jumped from phone screens to become an online sensation on just about every platform out there.
One user even had their smartwatch display the dancing raccoon as a live wallpaper. Their TikTok video gained 14 million views and 1.3 million likes since it was posted on April 12.
How to do the Pedro trend on TikTok
If you or your pet want to take part in the viral trend, all you need to do is to have the TikTok app downloaded on your device and follow these steps.
- Open TikTok
- Go to the camera, and click on the effects button
- Search for “rotating circle”
- Select the effect and start having fun dancing along to the music
The song will automatically be added when you pick your effect, making it easier for you to get started.
