While Star Wars fans await news on the upcoming Andor Season 2, one of its stars has just dropped a major hint as to what we can expect and — more importantly — when we might be getting it.
When Andor landed in 2022, it was quickly dubbed as one of the best Star Wars shows to date. The narrative arcs, visual quality, and engaging characters made sure it topped the charts in everyone’s mind. (And nobody’s ever really gotten over that “sunrise I’ll never see” speech.)
As such, everyone’s been poised and ready for Andor Season 2 to arrive, though it’s been a bumpy road. The 2023 industry strikes saw countless productions shut down across the board, Andor included.
It was previously thought that the new season would arrive on Disney Plus sometime this year, but it was eventually removed from the 2024 slate altogether. However, one of the show’s stars has just shared a very promising update.
Andor star teases Season 2 release date
Speaking to Total Film, Stellan Skarsgård who plays Luthen Rael on Andor, said of the Season 2 release date: “It will probably be out towards the end of the year or early next.”
With that in mind, it sounds like 2024 might not be completely off the table just yet.

Skarsgård is one of Andor’s key players, with Luthen Rael being the one who sends Cassian Andor off on his mission to infiltrate the Imperial Garrison. He then ends up becoming a looming force over Andor, and the season ends with Andor asking Luthen to either recruit him or kill him.
Of course, we all know where Andor ends up eventually. But the journey up until now has been a spectacular one, with Luthen and Andor’s suspicious relationship being one of the key pairings in the entire show.
What’s more, Skarsgård went on to confirm that Andor Season 2 would indeed be the last installment of the Star Wars spin-off. However, it sounds like he approves of where things will end up.
“It’s the last season of it,” he said. “It ends where Rogue One starts so it’s up to that point. I think it will be very good as already the first one was satisfying for me because it’s sort of Star Wars for grown-ups — it’s a more realistic and complicated society that they’re living in and the claustrophobia of the fascist regime is palpable. I think we have a good season ahead of us.”
