Hulu is one of the world’s biggest streaming services and is full of spooky horror films to watch in 2023. Here are our recommendations.
While Halloween may be far away, scary movies will always be great. And streaming services like Hulu make it so much easier to binge your favorites or discover new ones.
But with the plethora of streaming services taking over the internet, and the amount of content that each streaming service provides, it can be hard to figure out which site has which specific films to watch.
Hulu has a great selection that’s worth picking through though, so let’s examine some films we feel are perfect for any dark spooky night. Here are the best horror films on Hulu.
Evil Dead (2013)
The 2013 reboot of Sam Rami’s cult classic captures the spirit of the original in horrifying but fantastic ways. Gone is the slapstick comedy of the sequels – instead, the reboot attempts to tell a brutal and gritty story of demonic possession in an abandoned cabin. While the film may not have the charm of the original trilogy, it more than makes up for it with scares and gore.
The Sixth Sense (1999)
The O.G big twist movie, this movie convinced everyone for a short time that M. Night Shyamalan was a mastermind at filmmaking. It covers all sorts, from murder to ghosts and simultaneously innocent yet creepy kids, and it ultimately has great performances by everyone in the cast. We won’t say any more, for fear of spoiling this film for the two people who don’t know the twist. But you definitely need to watch this one if you haven’t.
Prey (2022)
Prey is the newest instalment in the Predator franchise, and ois considered to be one of the best films of it so far. The flick serves as an origin story of the Predator in the midst of the Comanche Nation circa 300 years ago.
Naru is a skilled hunter and tracker, who must fight in order to protect her tribe against one of the first Predators that lands on Earth. The film is also currently the biggest movie debut on the streaming service ever, so take that as a good sign.

What Lies Beneath (2000)
Looking for a classic ghost story? What Lies Beneath is all about a woman in a failing marriage who starts to suspect something is wrong with her neighbors after the wife disappears. Soon after she starts to be haunted by the ghost of a young woman that looks like her neighbor. Naturally, there’s much more to the tale, but What Lies Beneath is a masterful story with some genuinely chilling moments.
Drag Me to Hell (2009)
While you’ll likely spend a lot of this film feeling scared, you’ll also spend a lot of it just feeling sorry for the poor protagonist, who makes one bad decision (that her boss pushes her to make) that ultimately damns her for all eternity. It has one of the most iconic – and disturbing – endings in all of modern horror, and it’ll definitely traumatize you into being nice to every old lady you ever meet ever again.
Hellraiser (2022)
Hellraiser is the newest addition to this list, but it’s already made a massive splash. The franchise has been on and off since 1987, and it finally feels like its on again, with this recent film being one of the best Hellraiser films so far – granted, it doesn’t have much competition.
With Jamie Clayton taking over the iconic role of Pinhead, this film deals with the dark side of addiction, in the classic Hellraiser way that is sure to make you cringe in horror, for all the right reasons.
All of these films are available to watch on Hulu.
