Black Mirror fans can’t wait to jump back into the chaotic world of Season 7, so here’s what we know about the upcoming season, including the release window, cast and plot speculation, and more.
Charlie Brooker’s skin-crawling dystopian anthology series made its grand return last year after a four-year hiatus. It was worth the wait, as Black Mirror Season 6 featured some of the show’s best stories yet.
What started as a simple series has grown to become one of the most prolific sci-fi TV shows being made right now. It was an extraordinary success on the streaming platform, reaching number one on the charts across 92 countries and spending a month in Netflix’s Top 10 English-speaking TV ranking.
Since it was announced that the show will receive a seventh season, many fans have wondered and when it will return and who will be featured in the ever changing cast. So, hold onto your phones, because here’s everything we know.
Is there a Black Mirror Season 7 release date?
There’s no Black Mirror Season 7 release date yet, but we know it will arrive sometime in 2025.
The show announced its return in March 2024, revealing the six brand new stories, including a sequel to fan favorite episode ‘USS Callister.’ (Filming for that special episode wrapped in June 2024, meaning things are well and truly on the move.)
What would the next season be about?
Plot details are being kept under wraps for Black Mirror Season 7.
The next season will likely continue its own format of anthology episodes, exploring the beauty and the horror of separate sci-fi and supernatural concepts.
Brooker has recently suggested that future seasons of Black Mirror could explore literally any topic. In an interview with Tudum, he revealed: “I’ve always felt that Black Mirror should feature stories that are entirely distinct from one another, and keep surprising people — and myself — or else what’s the point? It should be a series that can’t be easily defined, and can keep reinventing itself.”
Considering how Season 6 dove more into mystery and supernatural elements than what we’ve seen before, perhaps a new season would continue to go down this route.

Brooker also told Digital Spy that he’d be keen to delve into the world of animation for whatever comes next. “I’ve never done an animated episode or a musical episode,” he said.
“Actually, weirdly, USS Callister started life because I was thinking of a story to do with a musical, and it somehow became USS Callister. So sometimes you’re aiming for one thing, and you veer off somewhere else.
“Again, all bets are off, because, again, in this season, we’ve got some that are almost old-school horror, and we’ve got some that are retro-futuristic, and we’ve got ones that are out-and-out comedy. So it’s a right mix. So I don’t know. Anything. Bloody anything!”
Black Mirror Season 7 cast: Who could star in the next season?
Currently there is no confirmed cast list for any future seasons of Black Mirror, but Season 7 would likely include even more established actors, as we’ve seen before.
As the show confirmed the USS Callister sequel, there’s a chance fans could be reunited with Jimmi Simpson, Cristin Milioti, and Michaela Coel, but there’s been no confirmation on their involvement just yet.
The sixth season of Black Mirror included plenty of large names, such as Aaron Paul, Josh Hartnett, Zazie Beetz, Salma Hayek Pinault, Michael Cera, Annie Murphy, and Rory Culkin. And previous seasons have even featured stars such as Miley Cyrus, Domhnall Gleeson, Bryce Dallas Howard, and Jon Hamm.
Ultimately, we could expect future celebrities amongst this calibre in every episode of Season 7. Especially considering that the Black Mirror is an anthology series, this means that there will be plenty of new interesting roles to fill in future stories.
