It’s the biggest franchise in the world, and thanks to Disney’s special event, we got plenty of news about the MCU this weekend. Here’s everything announced by Marvel at D23.

The MCU ruled the roost at San Diego Comic-Con 2024, with the huge announcement that Robert Downey Jr was returning to play Doctor Doom.

While we wait for Avengers Doomsday and Secret Wars, there is still plenty for Marvel to reveal to us, and that’s where D23 comes in.

It’s a hard act to follow after SDCC, but Kevin Feige and the team managed to squeeze some more huge surprises into the D23 2024 schedule.

Every Marvel movie & TV show announcement from D23

We’ve got updates on upcoming Marvel movies, such as Captain America 4 and Fantastic Four, and upcoming TV shows such as Agatha All Along and X-Men ’97.

The Fantastic Four: First Steps

Fantastic Four got a huge panel at SDCC, with test footage being shown to audiences that allowed for a sneak peak at Galactus. However, FF’s spotlight wasn’t so big at D23, though we did get an appearance from the cast.

Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, and Joseph Quinn are hard at work on the set of Fantastic Four: First Steps right now. But the team tuned into the event from the set, which gave fans a first real look at the new costume design.

If you weren’t already convinced of the retro style of the new movie, Joseph Quinn’s costume might convince you. Bright blue and white with a large logo on the chest, it’s definitely a shift in direction from previous on-screen iterations.

Those in attendance also got a sneak peak of Michael Giacchino’s score, as the composer played the theme to the crowd.

Captain America 4

Truth be told, we’ve already got everything we need to be excited about Brave New World. We’ve seen a trailer that revealed Red Hulk, so any more footage would only spoil it further.

At D23, the crowd was shown a clip from the new movie, which featured Harrison Ford’s Thunderbolt Ross giving a speech about the Adamantium being harvested from the Celestial, which is good, because we all definitely assumed that Marvel kind of forgot about that, right?

Agatha All Along

With Agatha just over a month away from its premiere date on Disney+, Disney released a new trailer for the witchy series.

The trailer shed more light on Agatha’s plight in her spinoff series as she convinces a band of witches to travel down the murderous witch’s road with her in order to restore te power Wanda Maximoff took from her at the end of WandaVision.

Agatha All Along also confirmed that it will have a lot of musical moments as Kathryn Hahn can be seen/heard singing through the trailer.

Ironheart

Ironheart got a shoutout at D23 this year, with stars Dominique Thorne, Anthony Ramos, Lyric Ross, Alden Ehrenreich, and Regan Aliyah taking to the stage. Guests were shown a sneak peak of the upcoming show. Still no premiere date, though.

“I have been having the best time playing Riri, and I can’t wait for you guys to see more of this series,” Thorne said.

Evidently, the show will catch up after the events of Black Panther 2, with Riri Williams dedicating all her time (even if it means skipping out on classes) to her next project.

Marvel animation

Morph and Wolverine from X-Men '97

There was plenty of news to be had when it comes to Marvel’s animated projects, all kicking off with Brad Winderbaum’s reveal that each animated movie and TV show would be in a different style to avoid nailing down one in-house look.

Then, things got interesting with updates on What If…? Season 3. Not only will Oscar Isaac’s Moon Knight appear in the newest season, but he will be joined by Ironheart and Shang-Chi. It was also announced that Season 3 would be the final series of the multiversal animated show.

Next up was X-Men ’97, kicking off with the news that the Mutants would be sporting the costumes from the Grant Morrison era. The crowd was also shown footage of Magneto on trial, with a declaration that the “X-Men are here to stay.”

We also got news on an upcoming show, Eyes of Wakanda, which will dive into Wakandan history. This show will feature an appearance from Iron Fist, too.

Next up was Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, with the main news being that Colman Domingo will voice Norman Osborn. Hudson Thames voices Peter Parker, and the new series will explore a relationship between Peter and Norman that’s similar to what we saw between Peter and Tony Stark in the MCU.

Audiences were also shown a first clip from the show, revealing that Peter got his bite after Doctor Strange and Venom come through a portal, along with a spider.

There was also news of Marvel Zombies, a 4-episode event series. A teaser revealed The Mandarin giving Shang-Chi the Ten Rings to save his arm from a zombie bite. This, plus a Mad Max-style sequence, makes this one of the most intriguing Marvel shows to come.

Finally, it was also revealed that Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse is well into production, with the cast due to start recording lines in the next couple of months.

Daredevil: Born Again

The biggest curveball out of D23 was the announcement that Daredevil: Born Again was renewed for a second season before Season 1 had the chance to premiere.

Kamala Khan’s, aka Ms. Marvel, father has joined the cast of Daredevil, which is an exciting update as it could be a new way to bring Kamala back into the universe after The Marvels’s unfortunate box office flop.

And White Tiger will also make an appearance in the series, though it’s unclear if she will follow in the footsteps of her comic book counterpart.

The expo also revealed Daredevil: Born Again will see Matt Murdock team up with longtime rival Kingpin to face off against a larger, more dangerous threat. It could be Muse, since it was also announced that the villain would appear in the new series.
