Daredevil: Born Again – Release date, cast, villains & more

Charlie Cox in She-Hulk, who'll return for Daredevil Born AgainDisney+

Daredevil: Born Again is set to be the best MCU TV show of 2025, and its release date has finally been confirmed.

Cox first portrayed Daredevil in the Netflix series of the same name as well as in the crossover series, The Defenders, before the plug was disappointingly pulled on that whole universe.

But after years of fan lobbying, Marvel Studios finally included Cox’s Matt Murdock in Spider-Man: No Way Home, She-Hulk, and Echo. Now, he’s got a big future in various upcoming Marvel movies and TV shows.

Born Again has had a rough production, with a total overhaul happening in the middle of filming, but things are looking up for our favorite lawyer.

Daredevil: Born Again release date

Daredevil: Born Again will be released on March 4, 2025 on Disney Plus.

Looking at the 2025 slate, we’ve got Captain America 4 in February, Thunderbolts in May, and Fantastic Four in July. Daredevil will fill the gap between February and May nicely.

We also got a curveball from the D23 Marvel panel: Born Again has been renewed for Season 2 before the first even premieres. This is a gutsy move considering how flaky confidence in the series has been so far.

Original head writers Chris Ord and Matt Corman departed the project in October 2023. The series is now directed by Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead, who worked on Moon Knight and Loki season 2.

Daredevil: Born Again Cast

The Daredevil: Born Again cast includes Charlie Cox back as Daredevil, Jon Bernthal back as the anti-hero Punisher, and Vincent D’Onofrio as Kingpin.

It was initially thought (and rallied against) that the original cast from the Netflix show, namely Deborah Ann Woll as Karen and Elden Henson as Foggy, wouldn’t be invited back. Thankfully, Marvel walked back that choice. They appeared on stage at D23 and Empire Magazine revealed the first official image of them together.

That means Born Again is definitively linked to the Netflix series. “There was talk early on about reinventing the whole thing, to see if Matt was a slightly different person,” Cox told Empire.

“But it ended up more of a continuation… a lot of the history follows on. The relationships and dynamics set up in the previous seasons still exist.”

Daredevil: Born Again cast:

  • Charlie Cox returns as Matt Murdock/Daredevil
  • Vincent D’Onofrio as Wilson Fisk/Kingpin
  • Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle/Punisher
  • Michael Gandolfini as Daniel Blade
  • Ayelet Zurer as Vanessa Fisk
  • Elden Henson as Franklin “Foggy” Nelson
  • Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page
  • Wilson Bethel as Benjamin “Dex” Poindexter/Bullseye
  • Margarita Levieva as Heather Glenn
  • Nikki M. James as Kirsten McDuffie
  • Genneya Walton as BB Urich
  • Clark Johnson as Cherry
  • Arty Froushan as Buck Cashman
  • Zabryna Guevara as Sheila Rivera
  • Jeremy Earl as Officer Cole North
  • Michael Gaston in an undisclosed role
  • Marc Geller in an undisclosed role
  • Harris Yulin in an undisclosed role

Additional rumors from star Charlie Cox hint at a number of cameos. While fans are speculating everything from Spider-Man to a return of The Defenders, scooper My Time To Shine has implied that Tony Dalton would be returning as Jack Duquesne, aka The Swordsman. Dalton was last seen in 2021’s Hawkeye.

What will Daredevil: Born Again be about?

As described by Marvel, Daredevil: Born Again will see Matt Murdock “fighting for justice through his bustling law firm, while former mob boss Wilson Fisk pursues his own political endeavors in New York.”

“When their past identities begin to emerge, both men find themselves on an inevitable collision course.”

The Punisher Daredevil Born AgainDisney

Feige said, “In Daredevil: Born Again, we’ve channeled the essence of the original series but set an entirely new path for Matt Murdock and Wilson Fisk,” at D23.

The Echo finale indicates that Daredevil: Born Again will adapt another arc from the comics: Kingpin’s New York City mayoral campaign. This tracks with rumors Fisk will run on an anti-costumed vigilante platform targeted at the likes of Daredevil.

Concerning the superhero TV show‘s wider roster of supervillains, Kingpin will play second fiddle to other antagonists: Muse and Bullseye. A version of the comic book character White Tiger will also appear.

Thanks to a set photo of Jeremy Earl’s Officer Cole North wearing a Punisher symbol on his uniform, we can surmise Bernthal’s subplot will involve dirty cops misusing his pathos.

Daredevil Season 1

Netflix’s Daredevil Season 1 sets the foundations for its titular character. We meet his close friend Foggy Nelson, future colleague Karen Page, and mentor, Stick.

We also encounter Wilson Fisk/Kingpin, a ruthless crime boss attempting to claim Hell’s Kitchen and the city at large for his own. Thankfully, Daredevil prevails and sends Fisk to prison by the time the season wraps.

Daredevil Season 2

In Daredevil Season 2, a crazed vigilante known as The Punisher is out to bring down the mob, one gangster at a time. While The Punisher’s devotion to justice is similar to Daredevil’s, they clash over the former’s lethal methods.

Season 2 also pits Daredevil against a mysterious organization known as The Hand, which is tied to Matt Murdock’s old flame, Elektra Natchios.

Daredevil Season 3

Despite his apparent death in Netflix’s crossover series The Defenders, Matt Murdock turns up alive but severely wounded in Daredevil Season 3. While he recovers, Wilson Fisk negotiates a deal with the FBI to protect his wife, Vanessa.

Eventually, Fisk is freed from prison and begins rehabilitating his public image. He also enlists the services of troubled NYPD officer Benjamin ‘Dex’ Poindexter (a.k.a. Bullseye) to bump off Daredevil. Fortunately, Matt ultimately overcomes both men when Season 3 concludes.
