Disney + and Hulu are being slammed online after the streaming platforms announced they will be cracking down on password sharing.
In recent years, streaming services such as Netflix have implemented a major crackdown in regards to password sharing. Many of these platforms are now adopting new policies that limit accounts to be shared only within one household.
In light of this, Disney + and Hulu will now be following a similar format, with those who do not comply set to face potential consequences.
“Unless otherwise permitted by your Service Tier, you may not share your subscription outside of your household.”
Consequently, social media users have slammed the services online, with one user even commenting that “we’ll all be using cable again by the end of 2025.”

Other X users (formerly known as Twitter) have also offered up their thoughts on the new Disney + and Hulu crackdown, many of which agree with the idea that there could be a massive shift in the future due to a constant increase in streaming service prices and rules.
“I was just saying this! All these streaming services are just going to become channels,” wrote another user. A third also commented, “Streaming services on the internet were supposed to free us from cable. Now it is looking like internet streaming will revert us back to the days of cable and satellite tele.”
It is not just general social media users that are furious at the news. Content creator and streamer MoistCr1TiKaL replied to the news stating, “The inconvenience plague begins. Piracy is about to explode in popularity again.”
Time will tell if recent price increases and password sharing does lead to an increase in piracy. However, we’ll be sure to keep you updated with all the latest developments in the streaming service space.
