Does Barbie have a post-credits scene?

Here are the details about any Barbie post-credits scenes following the IMAX rerelease.

When Barbie was first released, there was no post-credits scene and the film ended when the credits rolled. But thanks to the movie’s phenomenal success, Warner Bros. did reveal additional footage existed.

It wasn’t available everywhere, however. If you wanted to see more of the Barbie cast in action, there was a catch.

Here’s whether the post-credits footage is still available and where you can watch it now.

Is there a Barbie post-credits scene?

Yes, there was a Barbie post-credit scene for the film’s IMAX release, but no other formats had it.

Regular cinema screenings didn’t include the extra footage, so you had to go to an IMAX viewing specifically to see it. It wasn’t the worst deal ever, given how great IMAX is in and of itself.

Unfortunately, that means you can’t watch it now.

The Barbie IMAX post-credit scene explained

The IMAX release of Barbie included a post-credits blooper reel along with a scene featuring Helen Mirren as the Narrator, showing the audience her face for the first time.

This came after we had heard Mirren’s voice give us Barbie-world lore and crack jokes throughout the movie.

The scene is as meta as the rest of the movie, as it shows the Narrator walking in on Midge (played by Emerald Fennell) giving birth. As you may know, Midge is one of the discontinued Barbie dolls that was able to “get pregnant.” The scene is comedic, but also points to the themes of motherhood within the movie.

Also, don’t worry Ken fans, there are a number of post-credits bloopers showcased, many of which include Ryan Gosling’s Ken, and his ad-libs throughout the filming process.

What happens in the Barbie credits?

The Barbie credits feature discontinued dolls and promotional videos for them.

Set to the Barbie soundtrack cover of ‘Barbie World’ by Niki Minaj & Ice Spice (With Aqua), we see the pink and white credits shoot past the screen, mixed between images of old Barbie dolls, and clips of their promotional material.

This features a ton of Barbies that were discontinued for multiple reasons, including Growing Up Skipper (the Barbie whose chest grows), Midge (the pregnant Barbie in the previously discussed post-credits scene), and Barbie Video Girl (the Barbie with a camera and TV installed in her).

There are also plenty of Kens, including the iconic Magic Earring Ken (if you know, you know) and Sugar Daddy Ken.
