Austin Butler was one of the new additions to the Dune 2 cast, and it seems he hasn’t disappointed fans of the sci-fi sequel.
Dune 2 is the event of the year for sci-fi fans and movie-goers all around. As such, the sequel brought in some new faces for its cast, with a few major Hollywood stars to boot. One of them was Austin Butler, who became a notable name after his hip-thrusting, voice-morphing take on the King of Rock and Roll in 2022’s Elvis.
In Dune 2, Butler plays Feyd-Rautha, a villain who looks as if he’s literally been sculpted from marble. Dune experts will already know that Feyd-Rautha is one of the most evil figures in the Dune-iverse.
That’s a lot of pressure for any actor. However, if first responses are anything to go by, nobody has to worry about Butler.
First Dune 2 reactions praise Austin Butler
Austin Butler is already a standout element of Dune 2, with first reactions saying his performance will “go down in history.”
“Austin Butler’s portrayal of Feyd-Rautha in Dune: Part Two will go down in history as one of the most memorable movie villains of all-time,” wrote @EpicFilmGuys on X. “A legitimately terrifying monster whose presence is felt through the entirety of the film.”

“Austin Butler is absolutely transformative, captivating & seductively evil,” wrote @Lulamaybelle.
Elsewhere, @TheJosieMarie also described Butler’s performance as “transformative”, and @JohnSpartan300 called his take “menacing.”
Butler’s performance isn’t the only thing drawing in praise. Many fans have already agreed that the highly-anticipated sequel is a worthy follow-up to much-loved 2021 adaptation. And with Denis Villeneuve hoping to make Dune 3, here’s hoping there’s much more spectacular sci-fi on the way.
