Netflix’s Avatar: The Last Airbender has finally received its first full-length trailer, leaving fans “emotional” over the preview.
After the success of Netflix‘s live-action One Piece series as well as its roster of original anime titles, it’s not surprising that fans are hyped for the release of the streaming platform’s take on Avatar: The Last Airbender.
The original anime series was released back in 2005, making it almost 20 years since Aang, Appa, and friends were introduced on screens.
With the full show released on Netflix on February 22, fans are already “emotional” over the trailer preview of Avatar: The Last Airbender.
Fans “emotional” over Avatar: The Last Airbender trailer
The full-length trailer release for Netflix’s Avatar: The Last Airbender has got many fans “emotional,” taking to social media to express their excitement for the upcoming series.
The show’s full synopsis reads “Water. Earth. Fire. Air. The four nations once lived in harmony, with the Avatar, master of all four elements, keeping peace between them. But everything changed when the Fire Nation attacked and wiped out the Air Nomads, the first step taken by the firebenders towards conquering the world. With the current incarnation of the Avatar yet to emerge, the world has lost hope. But like a light in the darkness, hope springs forth when Aang (Gordon Cormier), a young Air Nomad — and the last of his kind — reawakens to take his rightful place as the next Avatar.

“Alongside his newfound friends Sokka (Ian Ousley) and Katara (Kiawentiio), siblings and members of the Southern Water Tribe, Aang embarks on a fantastical, action-packed quest to save the world and fight back against the fearsome onslaught of Fire Lord Ozai (Daniel Dae Kim). But with a driven Crown Prince Zuko (Dallas Liu) determined to capture them, it won’t be an easy task. They’ll need the help of the many allies and colorful characters they meet along the way.”
“Ngl, this low-key gagged me,” one fan posted on X/Twitter in response to the trailer release, with another adding “This trailer really got me emotional I’m sold. I’m ready. Avatar: The Last Airbender is back so life is good again.”
While the hype is real, some fans are still holding judgment on whether it can live up to the original anime series.
“Maybe I’m wrong but the ATLA I watched was 1,000 times more fun, joyful, and silly than this self-serious trailer seems to think it was,” one user weighed in. “This looks better than I expected and I like that they paid attention to color and visual clarity, but man, the hill I’ll always die on is that it’s much harder and wrong-headed to try and adapt animation into live-action than from literature, and this trailer again proves why,” added another.
A third fan reasoned “OMG OMG YES YES. I’m so excited for this. This looks like it’s got potential to be good and I’m so excited.”
