Looking for your next Virgin River fix while you wait for Season 6? Well, you might want to check out this TV show next, as fans are saying it’s a “dupe” of the Netflix series.
While we won’t be getting new Virgin River episodes until 2025, there’s still plenty of discussion going on among the dedicated fanbase following the almighty cliffhanger ending of Season 5 Part 2.
The chat continued after it was revealed that the Netflix hit is getting a spinoff in the form of a prequel, which is set to focus on the aforementioned cliffhanger by giving Mel’s biological father a backstory.
Given the spinoff is in early development and the Virgin River cast and crew have only just started shooting Season 6, you might want to check out this “dupe” in the meantime.
Fans say this TV show is a “Virgin River dupe”
Virgin River fans have described the 2023 drama series Sullivan’s Crossing as a “dupe” – and for good reason. Not only does it feature two Virgin River stars, but it also sees exec producer Roma Roth serve as showrunner, and it’s based on a Robyn Carr novel series.
For the uninitiated, Virgin River on Netflix is adapted from Carr’s books of the same name. And the same goes for Sullivan’s Crossing, which started airing its debut season in Canada last March before premiering on The CW in the US last October.

Lauren Hammersley and Lynda Boyd – who star in Virgin River as Charmaine and Lilly, respectively – join the Sullivan’s Crossing cast as Connie and Phoebe. With all of these similarities, it’s no surprise fans are connecting the two shows – although some haven’t yet realized they’re cut from the same cloth.
Taking to X last week, one said, “Sullivan’s Crossing is literally just a Virgin River dupe. this is…” To which another replied, “And Virgin River is a Hart of Dixie dupe.” A third added, “Currently watching Sullivan’s Crossing and it’s like a knock off of Virgin River… one of the characters from Virgin River is actually in Sullivan’s Crossing.”
Fans who are aware the two shows are Carr adaptations have been recommending Virgin River lovers to check out Sullivan’s Crossing. “Fans of Virgin River should be watching Sullivan’s Crossing,” wrote one. “Virgin River is GOOD. Sullivan’s Crossing is F’ING AMAZING!”
Another commented, “Started watching Sullivan’s Crossing and it gave me Virgin River vibes at first. Different storyline though. Virgin River lovers, I highly recommend Sullivan’s Crossing!”
The best news of all? Sullivan’s Crossing will be returning for Season 2 – you can read more about that here, and find all of the best TV shows coming to streaming this month here.
