Harold Perrineau as Boyd Stevens in FromMGM+

It’ll soon be time to journey back into John Griffin’s nightmarish town, with From Season 3 on the way.

It’s felt like an age since the Matthews family came upon that dreaded tree, with two seasons of From having been and gone with a lot of mind-bending twists and turns along the way.

Alongside the intricate storytelling, the From cast elevates this series, led by Harold Perrineau as Boyd Stevens, the heroic sheriff of a town stalked at night by creatures that want nothing but to see the residents suffer.

A lot is going on for the various cast members heading into the third chapter. Firstly, Moreno’s Tabitha is seemingly back in the real world, meaning she’ll likely be trying to find a way to save the rest of her family.

Then there’s the issue of Ghafoori’s Fatima, who is somehow pregnant — some believe she’s the one screaming in the background of the teaser trailer. Could she be giving birth at the most inopportune moment?

Although no full list has been confirmed, we expect some new faces to join the From Season 3 cast (although maybe not a busload as we saw in Season 2).

From Season 3 plot theories

There are still a lot of mysteries to uncover, from those ominous cicadas to whoever (or whatever) is behind the music box. Director Jack Bender confirmed that the From Season 3 plot will see things “getting worse” for the residents of Fromville.

“Every time you feel you can get out that way, bang, you hit the wall of the mirror here, here, here, here, here, and it accumulates and builds to a great crescendo at the end of season two,” Bender told Tell-Tale TV.

“It builds and builds to a really powerful, crazy, climactic end of the season, which is where we’re going to pick up season three. It does get worse; it’s like quicksand.”

He also cited Stephen King, whose work inspired the creative direction of From. “You know, when I work with Stephen King, I love the fact when he’s writing about the monsters inside of us, as well as the monsters outside of us.

“So, we relate in a certain way. I think that’s very true of our show. I think it’ll be scarier to satisfy all that stuff, and it will also be more complicated and horrific for the characters.”

Donna Raines actor Elizabeth Saunders also told Radio Times “We’ll get further to answers, for sure, but they’re not the answers.

“It’s like in life – you get things that reveal, things that make you go, ‘Oh, oh, OK, OK.’ But as that happens, something side-swipes it. It doesn’t necessarily just get completely annihilated, but it gives it another complexity.”

Saunders added “The world has more connections to other places, both internal and external, than we have known before – what journeys within and what journeys without, how does the world enter in…?”

The script leak posted on X.

In April 2024, the official X account leaked a little bit of a Season 3 script, although it doesn’t give much away.

The line involves Kenny saying, “You guys worry too much. We’ll be back before you know it.” While some believe this could be Kenny reassuring the Matthews family, it’s yet to be seen what this line really means.

It’s not surprising things are going to get worse, given the Season 2 finale saw Boyd destroying the musical box to save Julie, Randall, and Marielle.

Although it might have helped in the short term, a vision of Abby told him that destroying the box would only cause more suffering down the line. So we can expect the fallout of this incident to come into play in the third chapter.

Season 2 also ended with the shocking reveal that Tabitha survived being pushed from the lighthouse, waking up in a hospital bed seemingly now in the real world. If this is true, perhaps From Season 3 will see her trying to track down her family and find a way to get all of the residents back home.

Finally, the teaser trailer (which you can watch in the section below) shows the monsters holding Boyd captive, with the cowboy saying, “You said this place couldn’t break you. That’s what you said.”

This is a reference to the Season 2 finale, in which Boyd’s back in the forest, having just broken the music box. “You don’t break me,” he shouts. “You hear that? You don’t f*cking break me.”

The teaser then cuts to Boyd, who’s been tied up and is made to watch something. He’s clearly in distress, as a woman off-screen is heard screaming in agony. “You’re so strong,” he tries to reassure her.

As said, the main theory about this scene is that the screaming woman is Fatima giving birth. The monsters might want her baby for some sinister reason, perhaps because it’s one of them. This would explain Ellis’ fears that the child will be born with fangs.

Another fan theory is that Elgin is the grown-up child of Fatima and Ellis’, with Fromville being subjected to inter-dimensional time travel. This would explain his familiarity with the town, as well as the dates kept in those bottles and the portal trees. Of course, this is all just speculation at this point.
