The Godzilla Minus One Blu-ray is at the top of millions of Kaiju fans’ wish lists — here’s everything we know about when and how you can buy it.
In 1954, Godzilla was unleashed upon the world in Toho’s first movie. Next to King Kong, he’s cinema’s most iconic monster.
The best Godzilla movie so far is 2023’s addition. Our Godzilla Minus One review hailed it as a “moving” and “rousing” picture that takes risks and wins more often than not.
However, Godzilla Minus One streaming exclusively in Japan, you’re probably desperate for a way to watch it. Here’s what we know about the Blu-ray release.
Is there a Godzilla Minus One Blu-ray release date?
A Godzilla Minus One Blu-ray box set was released on May 1, 2024… but it’s only in Japan, and it doesn’t include English subtitles. Currently, there’s no release date for a physical edition in the US.
You can find more details about that impressive physical release here. It includes cool art cards, special bonus features, and more.
If you can stomach the shipping costs to get it overseas, that Toho release is your best bet for owning the movie.

Will Godzilla Minus One get a Blu-ray release in the US?
Given Godzilla Minus One’s commercial and critical success in the US, there’s a good chance a physical release in the Western world will come in 2024.
With a strong box office showing, and the film being an Oscar winner (for visual effects), we’d be surprised if a disc release doesn’t make it to the US and beyond.
On Reddit, one user speculated, “I’m not expecting it to appear on streaming or DVD/Blu-ray until almost Christmas of [2024]. Toho always waits a few months after releasing the Blu-ray in Japan to release in America. US and Japan are the same region in Blu-Ray and American discs are cheaper than Japanese ones, so Toho does this to try to minimize Japanese customers importing American copies).”
With this in mind and the May release in Japan, November 2024 could be the potential Godzilla Minus One Blu-ray release window in the US.
However, if you can’t wait, Godzilla Minus One just got a digital release date outside Japan.
