Warrior earned a solid fanbase while on Max before getting an unexpected cancellation — however, it’s now found new life on Netflix.
When Warrior was first released in 2019, it quickly gained a small but devoted group of fans. Based on a concept by Bruce Lee, Warrior seemed to tick all the boxes for action junkies.
However, the show was destined for a bumpy fate, changing hands frequently. After the third season aired in December 2023, Warrior was cancelled. Fans were devastated, and have been calling for a return ever since.
Then, in February 2024, the series was added to Netflix. Since coming to the catalog, it’s found a new wave of life, causing fans to announce their love for it once again.
Warrior climbs Netflix chart after cancellation
Since arriving on the streaming service, Warrior is currently working its way up the Top 10 shows chart on Netflix, reaching the sixth spot on February 18.
The Netflix release hasn’t only given loyal fans a way to revisit the series, but it’s also brought on a whole new wave of viewers. This all comes after a very unsettled history on streaming. Initially, it ran on Cinemax until 2021, when it was passed over to HBO Max. The platform was then rebranded to Max, where the show lived until it was cancelled last year.
Set during the Tong Wars in 1870s San Francisco, Warrior follows a martial arts prodigy who travels from China in search of his sister. With plenty of action and adrenaline pumping the story forward, it proved to be unforgettable to audiences.
Since the show’s Netflix premiere, viewers have been taking to social media to praise the series.
