While he might be known for playing DC’s Man of Steel, Henry Cavill has reportedly been offered and accepted a new role over at Marvel.
For a good long time, Henry Cavill was the golden boy over at DC. Playing Superman himself, Cavill was the embodiment of the classic superhero, cape and all. He made his debut in Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel, which marked the beginning of the DC Extended Universe.
But then it was all over, and after exiting The Witcher under the false promise of returning to that famous blue-and-red costume, it looked like Cavill’s superhero days were behind him.
However, recent rumors suggest that Cavill has been offered a spot at DC’s major competitor, Marvel Studios.
Henry Cavill reportedly accepts Marvel role
A recent social media post by a scoop account has said that Henry Cavill was offered a role at Marvel, and has since accepted.
This all came after the fancast of Cavill as Doctor Doom, the famous nemesis of the Fantastic Four. The @MyTimeToShineH X account then replied to the post, suggesting that Cavill would be joining Marvel, but as a different character.

Of course, this is still just a rumor at this stage. But it hasn’t stopped fans from taking their shot at guessing who the ex-Superman actor could be playing.
Some suggested he could be playing Hyperion, an Eternal and a founding member of the Squadron Supreme. Others brought up names like X-Men’s Cyclops, or Sentry (who is currently set to be played by Lewis Pullman).
However, the majority of Marvel fans were willing to bet that he’d be playing Captain Britain, who’s essentially the overseas version of Captain America. If this is true, then he’d likely be playing the Brian Braddock version of the hero, who was granted his powers after getting almost fatally injured in a motorcycle accident.
On paper, Henry Cavill could be a very good fit for Captain Britain. Besides, he’s already battled for “Truth, Justice and the American Way” as Superman — maybe it’s time for him to fight for his home turf?
