Amid the news WWE Raw is headed to Netflix, you might be wondering: is there a WWE documentary on the streaming platform? Here’s what you need to know.
Netflix is the streaming juggernaut that keeps on growing. Last year, it sparked controversy by banishing its “Love is sharing a password” approach before hiking its subscription prices to drive revenue.
Nonetheless, it remains to be the most popular streaming service in the world, focusing on expanding its influence in international content, gaming, and live sports. This week, WWE announced that from January 2025, its flagship show Monday Night Raw will be moving to Netflix.
It marks a major move for Netflix in the live sports arena, leading to the question: has the streaming platform ever produced a WWE documentary before? Or will it in the future?
Is there a WWE documentary on Netflix?
There are currently no Netflix Original documentaries on the WWE – however, this will change thanks to the new deal, with the streaming giant currently considering a behind-the-scenes documentary as part of the reported $5 billion deal.
WWE President Nick Khan told Bloomberg this week: “It would be a mistake by us at WWE to not do that with Netflix. We think the WWE audience, already big on a global level, only gets bigger with a show like that.”
As well as being the exclusive home of Raw from January 2025 in the US and other territories, it will also become the home for all WWE shows and specials outside the US as available, as well as WWE’s award-winning documentaries, original series, and forthcoming projects.

The outlet went on to highlight Netflix’s success with other sports docu-series such as Formula 1: Drive to Survive and golfing title Full Swing, which introduced new fans to major players in the sports before they went live.
If you do want to watch a Netflix documentary on the world of wrestling, Wrestlers is available to stream now. The series chronicles the ups and downs of the professional wrestling league Ohio Valley Wrestling (OVW), a Louisville wrestling gym whose alumni include Brock Lesnar, The Miz, John Cena, Dave Bautista, and Randy Orton.
As per the synopsis: “Once a proud finishing school for aspiring pro wrestlers, the gym has since hit hard times. Acclaimed wrestler Al Snow clings to an old-school wrestling philosophy with a heavy emphasis on storytelling, but in spite of the love of a few diehard fans, the gym struggles week to week to stay relevant enough to keep its doors open.
“Things have become so dire financially that Al has to sell a majority stake to a group of local businessmen including Matt Jones, the most popular radio personality in the state of Kentucky. Matt and the new ownership group have infused the struggling gym with much-needed cash but it still operates at a staggering loss.
“The new owners have given Al the summer to turn things around. Wrestlers chronicles the efforts Al and his band of aspiring wrestlers make as they struggle with their personal ambitions and each other while they attempt to come together to save this historic gym.”
