With a new James Bond movie on the way, 007 fans can all agree on the one thing they need in the spy franchise going forward.
Despite changing faces a few times throughout the years, the James Bond series is one of the most reliable spy movie franchises in existence. Essentially, 007 has always, and will always, live on.
The most recent iteration of Bond came in No Time To Die, which was Daniel Craig’s final outing as the man with a license to kill. Of course, that doesn’t mean it’s the end. Bond 26 is in development, and is likely to serve as a reboot for the franchise altogether, with a new star to play the world’s slickest spy.
A fresh take on James Bond has got fans thinking about what they want from the series moving ahead. And after some discussion, it seems like everyone is on the same page about where they want Bond to go.
James Bond fans all want the same thing
Over on Reddit, James Bond enthusiasts made it clear that they wanted to see the titular spy focusing on smaller missions… and actually completing them.
“The next Bond movie should be Bond being assigned to a mission and doing it,” wrote Beau_bell. “Enough of this being disavowed or framed by some mole within or someone higher up and then going rogue from the organization half the movie… I just want to see Bond sent on a mission and then doing that mission.”

Other users were quick to agree, pointing out that such tropes are becoming increasingly common in the spy movie genre.
“It’s really getting clichéd that spies in spy movies are always framed and get chased by their own government,” said another comment. “It’s really just not edgy and surprising anymore, and hasn’t been for a long time.”
“Yeah I’m kinda over the whole secret organization thing, and also the grizzled retired agent thing. Just show me Bond going on cool missions,” added another.
“Agreed, I want the exotic locations, the globetrotting, the gadgets, and a dangerous and well-equipped baddie to kill aided by a capable sidekick and backed up by M and the Q branch,” said a third.
With the past few Bond movies having such high stakes, it would be a refreshing shift to have the narrative switch to smaller missions. With a focus on gadgets and unexpected locations, this could bring the franchise back to the style of classic Bond movies.
