Hazbin Hotel has officially opened its doors for check-in following the launch of Season 1 on Prime Video. The burning question remains: is Jason Statham part of the infernal cast, and if so, is he portraying the character Zestial?
Created by Vivienne “VivziePop” Medrano, the show found an extraordinary fanbase from a single pilot uploaded to YouTube in 2019. Its success was so convincing that A24 ordered a full series that’s since premiered on Amazon’s streaming platform.
For the uninitiated, it follows Charlie Morningstar (Erike Henningsen), the daughter of King Lucifer who dreams of offering demons and other seemingly evil sinners a safe haven to repent and rehabilitate themselves. Others aren’t quite so compassionate; namely, Adam and his bloodthirsty angels carry out an annual purge to prevent demonic overpopulation.
The first four episodes arrived this week, but rumor has it that Jason Statham is due to voice a character – is it true?
Is Jason Statham voicing Zestial in Hazbin Hotel?
No, Jason Statham doesn’t appear to be playing Zestial in Hazbin Hotel, nor does he have any other role.
Zestial is a spider demon (and the oldest overlord in Hell) who appeared in the original pilot, voiced by James Monroe Iglehart. He’s reprised his role in the series.

So, why did people draw a line between the Stath and the character? A glitch in Prime Video’s X-Ray feature, which shows cast details and other trivia as an episode or movie is playing, incorrectly listed Statham to be voicing Zestial. It’s since reverted to Iglehart.
Alas, it was corrected too late, as plenty of shocked viewers took to social media to inform other fans. “Holy shit Jason Statham is Zestial and he sings?!?!?!? (Of course he does, it’s a musical!),” one user wrote.
“B*tch they got Jason Statham on Hazbin Hotel ain’t no f**kin way,” another tweeted. “Huh Amazon ended up getting Jason Statham in Hazbin Hotel. And you don’t know it’s exactly him unless you read the x-ray part on the player when you press pause,” a third wrote.
“They got Jason Statham in Hazbin Hotel what the heck,” a fourth wrote. “Did anyone else see for a bit that it said that Jason Statham was Zestial in Hazbin Hotel. It was thankfully fixed to credit the actual actor, James Monroe Iglehart,” a fifth posted, highlighting the mistake.
