Kevin Feige has given a tantalizing update about the future of the MCU: the “next big saga” is coming, and it will be revealed “in the coming months.”
Avengers: Endgame was the biggest pop culture event in history. It was the grand conclusion of the Infinity Saga, the seeds of which had been sown more than 10 years prior with Iron Man, aka the birth of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
With Thanos turned to dust, Tony Stark dead, and Steve Rogers handing the Captain America mantle to Sam Wilson, a daunting question emerged in the wake of the end: what now?
Phase Four has gotten off to a rocky start: in terms of movies, we’ve had Black Widow, Shang-Chi, Eternals, Spider-Man: No Way Home, and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness; and the MCU has vastly expanded onto the small screen with WandaVision, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Loki, What If…?, Hawkeye, Moon Knight, and Ms. Marvel. All of that, and there’s still loads to come.
Kevin Feige teases Phase Five and “next big saga” in the MCU
In a new interview with Total Film, Marvel’s head honcho spoke about the MCU’s future and how there have been several clues as to where the franchise is heading next.
Feige said: “As we’re nearing the end of Phase Four, I think people will start to see where this next saga is going.
“I think there have been many clues already, that are at least apparent to me, of where this whole saga is going. But we’ll be a little more direct about that in the coming months, to set a plan, so audiences who want to see the bigger picture can see a tiny, tiny, tiny bit more of the roadmap.”

What’s coming next in Phase Four of the MCU?
Ms. Marvel’s third episode will release on Disney+ this week, with the series expected to set up next year’s The Marvels, which will also see the return of Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel.
She-Hulk: Attorney at Law will drop on streaming platform later this year, alongside I Am Groot, the Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special, an untitled “Werewolf by Night” special, and possibly Secret Invasion.
Movie-wise, Thor: Love and Thunder will hit the big screen on July 12, followed by Black Panther: Wakanda Forever at the end of the year. Going into 2023, we’ll have Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, which will bring Jonathan Majors’ Kang the Conqueror to the fore, and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
Plans for a Fantastic Four movie are in development, but it’s unclear when we should expect to see it, nor has any casting been announced.
