With Iron Man’s successor gearing up to take center stage in the MCU, here are all the details we know so far about the upcoming Ironheart TV series.
After the death of Iron Man at the end of Avengers: Endgame, the absence of the hero has been felt across the whole of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Enter Riri Williams, the young inventor who – drawing major inspiration from her hero and mentor Tony Stark – takes on the mantle of Ironheart and brings forth a new era of the Iron Man persona.
First introduced in the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever film, she’ll soon after be getting her very own TV series. Here’s everything you need to know about the Disney+ Ironheart series ahead of its release.
Ironheart release date
Ironheart will be released on June 24, 2025 on Disney+.
The release date was finally confirmed in October 2024 as part of Marvel’s upcoming 2025 TV slate.
Ironheart star Dominique Thorne revealed in November 2022 that “We just finished filming, actually, on November 2 and I think there’s a lot for fans to sink their teeth into, especially if they enjoyed what they got to see of Riri Williams in a whole other world that was not her own.
“I think they might be in for a good time, stepping into a world that is her own.”
Ironheart cast
Dominique Thorne will star in Ironheart as Riri Williams, and is joined by Anthony Ramos as The Hood and Sacha Baron Cohen as the oddly titled “Mystery Man”.
Here’s the full Ironheart cast:
- Dominique Thorne as Riri Williams/Ironheart
- Anthony Ramos as Parker Robbins/The Hood
- Lyric Ross as Natalie Washington
- Alden Ehrenreich as Joe McGillicuddy
- Manny Montana as Cousin John
- Matthew Elam as Xavier Washington
- Anji White as Ronnie Williams: Riri’s mother
- Jim Rash as the Dean of MIT
- Shea Couleé as Slug
- Harper Anthony
- Zoe Terakes
- Regan Aliyah
- Shakira Barrera
- Rashida “Sheedz” Olayiwola
- Sonia Denis
- Paul Calderón
- Cree Summer
- Sacha Baron Cohen
Ramos spoke at D23 about his character, stating that “Parker believes truly that what he is doing is good.” As for Sacha Baron Cohen’s mysterious figure, many are assuming him to secretly be the villain Mephisto.
Other than the confirmed cast above, there are rumors and speculation that Don Cheadle’s War Machine could feature in the series, as well as some of the characters from the Black Panther franchise.
Ironheart plot details
With William’s appearance in Black Panther, the technology and knowledge from Wakanda will serve as a new driving force for the character and serve as a way for her to grow and develop into the Ironheart persona.
What we do know is that Ironheart will include Williams suiting up in some version of the Ironheart armor and will explore the technology vs magic debate that has become a more prominent theme in the MCU of late.
And while The Hood is set to be the big bad for the upcoming series, rumors that another major Marvel villain makes an impact are circulating online.
As first reported by The Direct, actor Sacha Baron Cohen has reportedly been cast to play the role of Mephisto, with the character set to then debut in the MCU during Ironheart.
Given the show’s central theme of technology vs magic, including Mephisto would be a great way to further the more fantastical elements of the series.

In an interview with ScreenRant, Thorne spoke about what fans can expect from the Ironheart series, teasing how the character will evolve and grow from her appearance in Wakanda Forever.
“It’s definitely a question that’s best answered by coming over to the series next year, but I definitely think that a lot of what we see with Riri, in particular, in Wakanda Forever, is the beginning of her having to reckon with this ambition of hers and really start to understand what it might mean.
I think that up until that point, and as it’s hinted in the show, she’s moving through MIT. She’s got her own little side business going, making a deal over there until she has a reason to look up quite literally and see these larger worlds that are in front of her that she now has no choice but to face.
“I think that sort of confrontation of nothing but her own brilliance and her own genius is a very exciting thing in itself. I think that, if folks were intrigued enough by that, they might find satisfaction over at the series next year too.”
Ironheart trailer
While there’s no full trailer, an Ironheart teaser was released by Marvel in October 2024.
You can watch it for yourself below:
It’s only a quick look at what’s coming, but the teaser does indicate that The Hood will play a large part in Riri’s growth as Ironheart. There also looks to be plenty of action and high-scale Iron Man-style antics, with several suits to admire and a shot of Riri throwing money into the air.
Who is Ironheart and how does she fit into the MCU?
In the comics, Riri Williams is a genius inventor and shows promise from her early teenage years. She grows into the role of Ironheart through the mentorship and guidance of Tony Stark himself.
Given that Stark is no longer around in the MCU, it is likely that her origins will be slightly altered.
The change-up of course being the character’s involvement and introduction in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Rather than being discovered by Tony Stark, Williams teams up with Wakanda after Namor – the villain of the film – takes an interest in her work.
Following her role in Black Panther and the upcoming Ironheart series, Williams is also set to appear in the Avengers: Secret Wars in 2026. However, there is a strong chance the character will appear in more projects between now and then to help fully establish her role in the MCU.
In an interview with Rolling Stone, actor Dominique Thorne spoke about her character Riri Williams and how she will be different in the standalone Ironheart show to her appearance in Black Panther.
“She is in this super heightened situation,” she said. “And she’s…I wouldn’t say silencing herself, but acting however someone would act when they know that they are responsible for causing a war between nations.”
She continued, “However someone would act when they’ve just been kidnapped in the middle of their day when they were planning to go to differential equations class in 15 minutes.”
