Secrets and truths will be revealed in Apple TV+’s Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, with a new trailer diving deep into a secret organization as the world accepts that monsters are real and pose a dangerous threat.
Monarch: Legacy of Monsters will be the first series installment in Legendary’s Monsterverse. The franchise began with the 2014 Godzilla reboot. It has continued with some success with the following installments: Kong: Skull Island, Godzilla: King of the Monsters, and Godzilla vs. Kong. Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire will be the next installment in theaters after the Disney+ series.
The series will focus on two siblings who go down the rabbit hole of dark secrets. They try to uncover their family’s ties to an organization called Monarch. On their journey for answers, they meet Army Officer Lee Shaw and his role in the 1950s, as well as years later when he poses a threat to Monarch. The character will be played by father and son duo Kurt and Wyatt Russell, with the latter as the younger version of Shaw.
Fans may be wondering when the series takes place in the timeline. Monarch: Legacy of Monsters occurs after the disastrous battle between Godzilla and the Titans that decimated San Francisco. The official trailer for Monarch: Legacy of Monsters raises anticipation for a still mysterious storyline.

With the Apple TV+ series being part of the rebooted franchise, Goodman will reprise his role as William “Bill” Randa. His character was a senior in Monarch who led the expedition. It’s safe to say that the trailer for Monarch: Legacy of Monsters will kick off the quest for answers with the appearance of a video recording of Randa. In the video, he promises to leave something for the future to fix his mistakes.
The trailer shows snippets of Shaw in the current time versus his past younger version and how everything is connected. Fans may notice archival footage of when Godzilla likely first arrived and the government’s response. The younger version of Shaw is seen with a crew entering a fortified circular vessel with the Monarch’s logo. Intermixed are scenes of Randa trying to escape danger in the jungle. All the while the current characters like Kate Randa (Anna Sawai) once again face disastrous monsters and destruction.
“Through 10 hours of character-driven television, our show explores the question of who the true monsters are in a world of coexistence with Titans. While at the same time taking us on a globetrotting adventure that will hopefully keep the audience as entertained as they are emotionally engaged,” said executive producers Matt Shakman, Joby Harold, and Tory Tunnel, according to Variety.
Monarch: Legacy of Monsters will premiere on Apple TV+ on November 17. You can read more Godzilla coverage here, and more about Godzilla: Minus One here.
