2024 is looking good as multiple long-awaited Netflix K-dramas are finally returning, with a first look at Hellbound Season 2, Sweet Home Season 3, and another look at Gyeongseong Creature Season 2.
Not only will Squid Game finally return with its second season, but so will many more with new installments. Sweet Home Season 2 recently finished, with the post-apocalyptic world expanding into new territories with many new shocking revelations.
Sweet Home Season 3 will be both Song Kang and Lee Do-hyun’s newest K-drama roles amid their military service. A first look at the season doesn’t disappoint. The same goes for the long-awaited Hellbound Season 2. The new season was announced after the quick success of the first but went through major changes after replacing the male lead.
Netflix’s 2024 K-drama preview also includes a new scene for Gyeongseong Creature Season 2 and the changed dynamic between Chae-ok and Tae-sang. Let’s dive in.
Sweet Home Season 3 brings back Lee Do-hyun
Lee Do-hyun rejoins the cast of Sweet Home Season 3 as possibly his original character as the apocalyptic storyline continues.
The first look at Season 3 will likely take place where the Season 2 finale ended. The teaser reveals Ui-myeong back in action, but this time fans are well aware he’s really Sang-won. Fans also see the return of Si-a, Yi-kyung’s daughter who was born a mutant with deadly abilities.
Based on the teaser, the two will likely cross paths and be unaware of their connection. But the biggest surprise of all is the return of Yi-kyung. In Sweet Home Season 2, she was supposedly killed by Hyun-soo when her daughter activated her monster gene.
The teaser also revealed Dr. Lim alive and well, as well as Eun-yu and Yeong-hu. But you may have jumped out of your seat when Yeong-hu comes to face to face with none other than Eun-hyuk. During the second season finale, it was revealed that not everyone who is infected dies and becomes a monster.
The mysterious eggs were exactly that. Eun-hyuk emerged from his back at the residential building reborn, but not as his old self. Is he a new brand of monster? The Sweet Home Season 3 teaser also revealed Hyun-soo but in his more sadistic nature. Having been heartbroken by killing his friend, his monster alter ego took over to let him rest. The K-drama will release in 2024 on Netflix.

Hellbound was one of Netflix’s biggest successes during the infamy of Squid Game. Based on a webtoon, the K-drama had a unique take on religion and monsters. Humanity learns of monsters/angels appearing to fulfill a contract. What contract? Humans are given a prophecy of their deaths and will be taken by the monsters the second their prophecy expires.
The phenomenon led to a new world order either fearing the monsters or creating a cult. Hellbound ended on a cliffhanger when it revealed the people the monsters have killed have resurrected from death. But there was an issue as the prophecy of a newborn wasn’t fulfilled thanks to the sacrifice of its parents. The event destroyed the belief system of the new world order.
An official first look at Hellbound Season 2 reveals that cult-like New Truth Society and the gang-like Arrowhead group are still trying to reign in control. There’s also the return of Kim Hyun-joo as Min Hye-jin, the lawyer who helped save the newborn.
The big takeaway from the teaser is the reveal of actor Kim Sung-cheol as Jeong Jin-soo, the original cult leader of the New Truth Society. As a result of Yoo Ah-in stepping away from the K-drama, Kim was added to the cast list in his place. Hellbound Season 2’s teaser reveals he has been reborn as he had previously died due to his own prophecy.
Gyeongseong Creature Season 2 returns to Netflix
The romance has changed between Chae-ok and Tae-sang in Gyeongseong Creature Season 2 as they take on the modern world.
Gyeongseong Creature was announced to have greenlit a second season before the first season premiere. By the finale, the storyline left the door open to continue exploring the main characters. Chae-ok’s story ended with her getting the najin to survive death. A child born from the najin was also teased alongside a post-credits scene of Tae-sang having become immortal somehow and living in present-day Korea.
Season 2 was announced to take place in the modern day, with the return of the main characters. The question is how have they adapted throughout the years, and what happened between Tae-sang and Chae-ok? A first look at the season reveals animosity between them.
Chae-ok tells him she doesn’t like to get involved, with Tae-sang angered and saying that someone is dead. Both of them have enhanced reflexes or strength as Chae-ok tries to land an un-human punch that he catches with ease. He warns her he doesn’t get hit twice. She warns him that even if he finds the killer, he won’t be able to handle it. Could the killer be the najin baby all grown up?
