With Oppenheimer up for several Oscars (including Best Picture), you’re probably wondering when it’ll hit streaming. Here’s how to watch Christopher Nolan’s acclaimed biopic at home.
Oppenheimer premiered on July 21, 2023 – the same day as Greta Gerwig’s Barbie. This sparked the “Barbenheimer” cultural phenomenon, which encouraged moviegoers to see both movies back-to-back as a double feature.
Industry analysts attribute at least some of Oppenheimer’s $954.7 million box office haul to the Barbenheimer effect, although the film’s glowing reviews no doubt played a part, as well.
So, with all that said, read on to find out how to watch Oppenheimer at home, including when we expect it to be available on streaming.
When is Oppenheimer on streaming?
Oppenheimer debuts on Peacock on February 16, 2024, as confirmed in January 2024.
Universal has an exclusive streaming deal with Peacock, which means new releases must arrive on the platform within four months of release. As Oppenheimer hit cinemas in July 2023, it theoretically should’ve been available on Peacock by December 2023.

That said, Oppenheimer’s IMAX re-release in October 2023 seemingly reset the clock for its streaming debut. Using the “four months from release” arrangement as a guide, it makes sense the movie will instead make its streaming debut in February.
Is Oppenheimer streaming on Netflix?
No (as covered above), Oppenheimer is not streaming on Netflix. Peacock holds the streaming rights to the film, which means no other platforms (including Netflix) can show it.
So, if you don’t subscribe to Peacock and want to watch Oppenheimer at home, you’ll have to buy it on 4K, Blu-ray, or Digital PVOD. Each of these formats is available to purchase here.
