The Netflix drama has been a hit with audiences ever since Season 1 landed back in 2020, following four friends who live on the Outer Banks of North Carolina as they hunt for legendary treasure linked to the main character’s father’s disappearance. The group, known as the Pogues, run into trouble when they must race against a wealthy gang known as the Kooks – but their competition runs much deeper than just the hunt for treasure.
Season 2 ended with the Pogues stranded on an island as they continued to search for a new treasure that related to character Pope Heyward’s own family history. With the “Kook Princess” Sarah and Bahamas native Cleo along for the ride, the group continued their search Season 3 as the authorities and Sarah’s vindictive family chase them.

Outer Banks Season 3 release date
Outer Banks Season 3 premiered on Netflix on February 23, 2023.
As with the previous two seasons, all episodes released on Netflix at the same time – so they’re all there to binge-watch again.

Outer Banks Season 3 cast includes:

- Madelyn Cline as Sarah Cameron
- Rudy Pankow as JJ Maybank
- Madison Bailey as Kiara “Kie” Carrera
- Jonathan Daviss as Pope Heyward
- Austin North as Topper Thornton
- Drew Starkey as Rafe Cameron
- Charles Esten as Ward Cameron
In addition to the returning main cast, Carlacia Grant, who played Cleo in Season 2, was elevated to the main cast for Season 3.
Other recurring characters who returned included Elizabeth Mitchell as Carla Limbrey and Charles Halford as Big John. Julia Antonelli also reprised her role as Sarah’s sister Wheezie Cameron, along with Caroline Arapoglou as Sarah’s stepmother Rose Cameron.
New members of the cast included Andy McQueen as Carlos Singh, “a Caribbean Don who is intelligent, refined, and ruthless, and is out on a treasure hunt of his own.” And Lou Ferrigno Jr. played one of Singh’s lieutenants.

Another newcomer was Fiona Palomo as Sofia – a Pogue who formed a “close connection with Rafe.”

The official trailer for Outer Banks Season 3 was released on February 2, 2023 and can be seen below:
This trailer highlights new information about the treasure that the crew were seeking in Season 3. It also features the reunion of John B and his father, Big John, who was presumed dead for some time before the series began.

Outer Banks Season 3 plot: What’s it about?
The third season picked up with the Pogues stranded on their mysterious island, which they dubbed “Poguelandia,” as they tried to escape and continue after the Cross of Santo Domingo.
The group had a lot to contend with in Season 3, including a Caribbean mob boss and the police who were hot on their tails. Oh, and Sarah’s father, Ward, and brother, Rafe, were also seeking the treasure.
Season 3 also dealt with the shocking revelation at the end of Season 2 that John B’s father Big John, who was believed to have been killed by Ward, is actually alive.
