Throughout the series, feelings have been divided on whether Swan has betrayed Reacher and his teammates to join hands with Langston’s evil plan. As they investigated further into New Age and Langston, Swan’s name was everywhere. On signed documents and on the shady side of the Little Wing project. Neagely, Dixon, and O’Donnell didn’t want to believe their friend was dirty, but evidence said otherwise.

But what put a damper on his plan was Tony Swan. Having been hired by Marlo Burns to keep an eye on Langston, he began to snoop around. It caught Langston’s attention and put him in a predicament when Swan involved the other members of the 110th. Langston offered to cut him into the big deal, but he refused.
In return, Langston decided to use him to sign off on all the paperwork, implicating Swan instead of him. But where is Swan? Reacher has the same question and reveals he’s close by. But not in the way they thought. Langston opens a drawer and reveals a jar with Swan’s eyeball and finger swimming in liquid.
Tony Swan is dead in Reacher Season 2 as Langston only needed parts of him to help his plan. The finger and eyeball explain why Swan’s name appeared on all the documents. New Age requires intense biometric security through retinal scanners and fingerprint signatures. When exactly he died is unclear. It could have been very early on before Langston killed the other members by dropping them from a helicopter. Langston doesn’t reveal what happened to the rest of his body.
Reacher and the team never expected the outcome of what happened to Swan.
