After winning over fans by starring in the hit Amazon Prime Video series Reacher, Alan Ritchson is getting another win with the return of an old series.
Since starring in the ultimate “dad show” as Jack Reacher, Alan Ritchson has become a small-screen commodity. The action-packed Amazon Prime Video series has become a sensation among adrenaline seekers.
But Ritchson had already made the rounds on TV before giving the heavyweight hero new life on Amazon. In fact, he’s appeared in the likes of Smallville, 90210, New Girl, and Black Mirror.
In fact, he starred in another beloved series over a decade ago. And fans of the show (which has since inspired a cult following), will be pleased to know that it’s coming back, with Ritchson returning, too.
Alan Ritchson’s first big TV show is coming back
Blue Mountain State, which originally ran for three seasons and a movie, is currently in negotiation to receive a sequel series, with Alan Ritchson set to reprise his role as Kevin “Thad” Castle.
The comedy series originally aired on Spike (now known as the Paramount Network) and followed a fictional football team at the Blue Mountain State University. Ritchson starred as Thad, a linebacker and team captain for the school’s team, the Mountain Goats.

The series covered all the usual elements of a college-based sitcom: parties, drugs, drinking, and everything in between. (Critics at the time likened the raunchy Blue Mountain State to another teen cultural landmark: American Pie.)
While the show wasn’t renewed for a fourth season, it secured a strong new following after becoming available on Netflix. (These days, the show currently has an 85% score on Rotten Tomatoes.) Fan campaigns and fundraising led to a movie in 2016: The BMS Movie. Now, we’re getting an official continuation of the original show.
According to Deadline, the original series co-leads, Darin Brooks and Chris Romano, are also set to return for the revival alongside Ritchson.
The series is currently being shopped around, with Ritchson’s Reacher home, Amazon Prime Video, said to be the most likely landing spot.
