The popular anime show SK8 the Infinity is returning to our screens, but not in the way we’d expected.
Sports anime is having a good time in 2024, with Haikyuu!! The Dumpster Battle dominating the global box office, and Blue Lock Season 2 releasing in October. Now, another show is joining the roster as SK8 the Infinity is announced to return soon.
Following the successful first season, the anime show announced an OVA in 2022. There was also a key visual released, featuring Joe and Cherry as high schoolers. Now, another visual for the OVA is released, this time featuring Adam and Tadashi.
Like the first season, the OVA will be animated by Bones. However, there hasn’t been any release date announced for it yet. But given that we have two key visuals for it, it may arrive well before the anime’s second season, which hasn’t had an update since its announcement in 2022.
By the looks of it, the OVA will have a minimum of two episodes. Likely, the first episode will feature Joe and Cherry while the second will focus on Adam and Tadashi. It’s possible there’ll be more visuals released since Reki, Langa, Miya, and Shadow haven’t appeared yet.
Fans are quite excited about this comeback. As one commented on X: “*Screaming all over the place* MY SKATE BOIS ARE COMING BAAAAACK!!!”

“F**king finally!!!! We‘ve waited too long,” wrote another, while a third added, “THIS IS NOT A DRILL! LET’S F**KING GOOO!”
“Thank god we didn’t get the Ice Adolescence treatment,” shared a fourth, referring to the cancelation of Yuri on Ice’s prequel movie after being stuck in production for years.
For those who aren’t familiar with SK8 the Infinity yet, the story follows a special kind of illegal skateboarding in Okinawa.
Reki is a high schooler who’s passionate about skateboarding and he finally gets a partner-in-crime when Langa, a transfer student from Canada, joins his class and turns out to be a prodigy in this sport.
