Saturday Night Live made fun of Dune: Part Two’s hilariously inappropriate popcorn bucket by using a catchy song.
After months of anticipation, fans are waiting on the edge of their seat as Dune: Part Two makes it way into theaters very soon.
Based on Frank Herbert’s 1965 sci-fi novella, Dune sets up a war between two factions in order to control the super enhanced spice supply found on the desert planet of Arrakis.
However, though promotion is underway for the second part of the franchise, the promotional popcorn bucket for the film has gone so viral for all the wrong reason that even Saturday Night Live has to parody it.
SNL captures the sexual nature behind Dune 2 popcorn bucket
The Dune: Part Two promotional popcorn bucket went viral earlier this year as some influencers shared pictures of the bucket that is supposed to resemble the mouth of a sandworm, which are heavily featured in Dune 2, but unfortunately seemed to look more like a fleshlight.

While one could fun a ton of jokes about the bucket on social media, Saturday Night Live decided to throw their hat in the ring and make fun of the item itself using host Ayo Edebiri’s comedic talent while doing so.
The entire premise around the show’s musical interlude is a bunch of high school students are using the Dune 2 “fleshlight” bucket as a sexual object instead of for its intended use.
Despite the unfortunate reference to sexual toy items, the Dune 2 popcorn bucket is still receiving a ton of press ahead of the film’s March 1 release date.
However, it’s not just the general public who thinks the bucket is a bit inappropriate. Dune 2 star Florence Pugh recently refused to eat popcorn from the item when it was offered by host Jimmy Kimmel during a press interview stating, “That’s not okay. Who made that? That’s not okay. That’s wrong.”
