Tom Holland as Spider-ManMarvel Studios

If you’re desperate for a Spider-Man 4 release date, you’re not the only one! Tom Holland is returning to the MCU, so here’s everything we know about the new movie.

Holland first debuted in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as the friendly neighborhood wall-crawler in Captain America: Civil War, then appeared in Infinity War and Endgame, as well as his trilogy of Spider-Man movies: Homecoming, Far From Home, and No Way Home.

The latter movie saw Holland’s Spider-Man team up with Spideys of the past, Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield, in a fight against villains from other corners of the multiverse, including Green Goblin, Doctor Octopus, Electro, Sandman, and Lizard.

We know there’s more to come from this version of Spider-Man among the slate of upcoming Marvel movies, which is great news.

Spider-Man 4 release date

The Spider-Man 4 release date is July 24, 2026.

The date was finally confirmed on October 25, 2024. This means Spider-Man 4 will arrive between Avengers: Doomsday (May 1, 2026) and Avengers: Secret Wars (May 7, 2027).

During a recent appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, Tom Holland confirmed that Spider-Man 4 will begin shooting in Summer 2025.

“Next summer, we start shooting. Everything’s good to go — we’re nearly there,” he said. “Super exciting. I can’t wait!”

Who’s in the cast?

Tom Holland will return as Peter Parker/Spider-Man in Spider-Man 4.

On October 17, 2024, Tom Holland appeared on the Rich Roll podcast and revealed that he had, in fact, read an early draft of the Spider-Man 4 script.

The actor revealed, “It needs work, but the writers are doing a great job. I read it three weeks ago and it really lit a fire in me. Zendaya and I sat down and read it together and we at times were bouncing around the living room like this is a real movie worthy of the fans’ respect.”

However, he then delved deeper into some of the challenges this upcoming sequel is facing. In particular, how the movie fits as “a small cog in a large machine” that is the MCU.

“That machine has got to keep running. You have to make sure you can fit into that timeline at the right time to benefit the bigger picture. That’s one of the challenges we’re facing. The time in which we need to get that done is a tall order but definitely achievable with the people we have working on it now.”

Speaking of people taking over, there is speculation that Miles Morales will make his live-action debut in Spider-Man 4, so that could be a great way to hand over the reins to the next generation. If so, Marvel will need to find an actor to play Miles Morales, but that’s likely to be a relative unknown.

Recent rumors have also indicated there’ll be multiple villains in Spider-Man 4, with the possibility of Thomas Haden Church returning as Sandman.

Given how No Way Home ended, there’s a chance Zendaya and Jacob Batalon may not return as MJ and Ned — after all, they don’t even know who Peter Parker is anymore.

One person who definitely won’t be returning is director Jon Watts. Having helmed the first three movies, Watts is stepping aside.

Spider-Man 4 plot details and rumors

There is no official confirmation of the Spider-Man 4 plot, but rumors suggest the movie is multiverse-based, as well as seeing the wallcrawler potentially teaming up with Daredevil against Kingpin.

Starting with the fallout of No Way Home, we know that the next Spider-Man movie will need to address the fact that no one knows who Peter Parker is anymore. Spider-Man 4 will likely see this version of Peter Parker trying to recover his relationships with the likes of MJ and Ned.

Feige has also confirmed Spider-Man will spearhead the MCU’s “street-level heroes” going forward alongside another major character: Matt Murdock, aka Daredevil, played by Charlie Cox. There’s a belief that this movie will follow on from Daredevil: Born Again and see the heroic duo taking on one of the greatest supervillains, Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin.

As for Venom, we know that part of the symbiote was left behind by Tom Hardy’s Eddie Brock in the No Way Home post-credit scene. We’ll have to wait and see how Venom 3 plays out, but we suspect that pesky little symbiote will find a new host in the MCU timeline rather than Hardy continuing in the role.

Will we finally get to see black suit Spidey at some point? It would make a lot of sense, given the ties of that costume to the original Secret Wars comic book run.

And then there’s Miles Morales, the hero of the Spider-Verse movies, who’s yet to appear in the MCU. According to Culture Spider, Marvel wants “Miles to be Peter’s roommate”, rather than the traditional mentorship seen in the animated movie and games.

Recent rumors suggest the film will tie into the multiverse in some way, like how No Way Home leaned on that heavily, but this has not been substantiated.

In a new report by The Cosmic Circus, Alex Perez alleged that Holland’s Spidey “will get the symbiote suit in the next few years and may keep it for the next couple of Spidey films.”

“As for Tobey and Andrew…I heard that there is a very strong possibility they show up for an extended role this time around, given the setting of the Multiverse Saga,” he continued.

“It’s set in NYC. With each passing day, it becomes more and more multiversal than street-level. At this point, I dare say it’s leaning slightly cosmic than street. These things, especially with pre-production, shift so much, so I try to update them as best I can on the fly as they happen. I know it’s annoying for many of you, but let’s wait until later on to get more solid confirmation.”
