According to The Hollywood Reporter, Jamie Foxx is set to return as the classic Spider-Man character Electro in the upcoming untitled MCU film “Spider-Man 3”, and fans don’t seem to know how to react to the news.
Of the three Spider-Man film series’, most people tend to agree that The Amazing Spider-Man, starring Andrew Garfield, is the worst. Between cringy writing, bad acting, and what most people would consider a non-believable Peter Parker, the series is generally widely criticized.
It’s even hard to find good elements in the villains, which are considered classics in the comic books. Green Goblin, Lizard, and Electro were all featured in the series and were generally considered terrible adaptations. Despite this, however, it seems one of them is making a comeback.
Jamie Foxx, who played the aforementioned Electro in The Amazing Spider-Man, is apparently in final talks to return to the role in the upcoming MCU film “Spider-Man 3” which currently doesn’t have a title.
Details about this Electro’s inclusion, especially the Jamie Foxx version of the character, are unknown with some people speculating that this is either a new take on the character for the MCU or that this entry will truly introduce the multi-verse for the first time, bringing together both franchises.
Regardless of all the speculation, most people seem to be utterly confused by this news, especially considering how hated the ASM franchise actually is.

Why in the fuck would you want to remind people of one of the worst movies to ever slap a Marvel logo in front of it? https://t.co/Ce5zLgNbom

At the same rate, other people were more angered by the news, and with the negative attitude towards the franchise in general, it’s easy to see why they would feel that way.

It wasn’t all terrible though. Given the possibility that this announcement could mean the inclusion of the multiverse within the Spider-Man MCU franchise, some fans were actually optimistic and quite excited about what it could mean.

Whatever the movie brings, it surely can’t be received worse than The Amazing Spider-Man 2. The film sits at 51% on Rotten Tomatoes and a 53 on Metacritic, while the MCU Spider-Man films rank much higher.
Hopefully we know more about the news soon.
