A fan on Reddit explained, “We’re seeing set pics of Hawkins Hospital, which I’m assuming got some major upgrades since all of the staff and patients were killed in season 3. It annoyed me that the news reel mentioned all the cursed things in Hawkins, but didn’t mention the hospital at all!”

The set photos mentioned were recently released from Season 5. According to ScreenRant, the series’ official Instagram posted on their stories that the characters will return to the hospital. But it left fans thinking back to Season 3.

The massacre of possibly hundreds of people within the hospital in Stranger Things wasn’t made into a big deal, even after the hall fire. “A lot of people just disappeared/flayed in that season and it was never mentioned. I’d think a hundred people disappearing would be a much bigger deal, especially with so many being kids and teens,” said one fan.

Another mentioned that the season finale did include a news report of all the “weird” activity that happens in Hawkins. They even blamed it on Satanic cult activity. But “the hospital on the other hand, was never mentioned after the kids left that night.”

Others explain that the government likely used the mall fire as a cover-up for all the deaths. “The government probably covered it up and marked them all as aids deaths or something similar. There’s plenty of that stuff already in the show, not covering every inch of it is a creative choice that seems okay to me,” said one fan.

Others agree the massacre that took place at Hawkins Hospital is a big oversight that creates a rather large plothole in Season 3
