Taylor Sheridan’s Landman cast continues to grow, with Jon Hamm joining the Yellowstone creator’s new series in a key role.
Taylor Sheridan is the busiest man in television right now. On top of finishing up Yellowstone Season 5 Part 2 and developing even more Dutton family spin-offs, the creator is also currently padding out his cast for Landman.
The new show will see Sheridan join hands with Paramount Plus once again to adapt the ‘Boomtown’ podcast into a new drama series. Landman will take place in the boomtowns of West Texas, following a fortune-seeking journey in the world of oil rigs. (There Will Be Blood: Yellowstone-style!)
So far, the cast already includes the likes of Demi Moore, Billy Bob Thornton, and Ali Larter. There’s also a few Sheridan alumni, including Michelle Randolph (1923) and James Jordan (Yellowstone, 1883). But Landman just added a major TV star to its ranks, and he already has a cowboy hat ready to go.
Taylor Sheridan’s Landman adds Jon Hamm to cast
Jon Hamm has joined Taylor Sheridan’s Landman cast as Monty Miller, The Hollywood Reporter has revealed.

Hamm’s role is described as “recurring”, with Monty Miller being “a titan of the Texas oil industry who has a long personal and professional relationship with Tommy Norris (Billy Bob Thornton).”
Hamm comes fresh off Fargo Season 5, which saw him play Roy Tillman, a villainous Sheriff who himself is above the law. (Sounds like good experience for any Taylor Sheridan project, really.)
The new series stands separately from Sheridan’s Yellowstone universe, joining the ranks of Mayor of Kingstown and Tulsa King. However, the official show description calls it: “an upstairs/downstairs story of roughnecks and wildcat billionaires fueling a boom so big, it’s reshaping our climate, our economy and our geopolitics.” …Sounds like it’ll feed the Yellowstone fans just fine.
Landman began production earlier this month, with filming taking place around Fort Worth, Texas, not far from Taylor Sheridan’s Four Sixes ranch.
