Ted, Seth MacFarlane’s potty-mouthed bear, has returned to our screens in his own series – and fans are taken aback by how great it is.
2012: the year the world didn’t end as the Mayans predicted, but also the year the world was introduced to Ted. Coming from the mind behind Family Guy, the movie follows Mark Wahlberg’s John Bennett and his lifelong best buddy – who also happens to be a walking, talking, and rather naughty teddy bear.
It was a huge success, garnering positive reviews and becoming the second highest-grossing R-rated comedy of all time, just behind The Hangover Part II. It launched a franchise, with a sequel hitting cinemas in 2015 and a prequel series dropping on Peacock last week.
The latter project didn’t arrive to much fanfare – however, slowly but surely, several clips from the show have been met with laughs across social media.
Ted series hailed by fans
Ted is set in 1993, revolving around the high-school exploits of John and his reliably crude, loyal teddy. All seven episodes of the series are available to stream on Peacock now – and it’s starting to find a big audience.
“I can confirm that the Ted show is great,” one user wrote, posting screenshots from a gag that saw Ted and John watching an “adult movie” – they expected it to be porn, but they rented The 400 Blows.

“Nah that new Ted show is peak comedy,” another wrote. “If you’re a fan of old school Family Guy (like, the first 3 or 4 seasons), then you owe it to yourself to watch the new Ted TV series. Holy sh*t,” a third posted.
“The Ted series is probably the funniest sh*t I’ve seen in a while,” a fourth tweeted. “Seth MacFarlane and the entire Ted team arriving to give us the best comedy series of 2024 (I don’t care that the year has just started, this series is f*cking hilarious),” a fifth wrote.
“I just love the #Ted series it’s literally family guy but live-action even aside from Seth MacFarlane the cutaways… the gags and outrageous stupidity of everyone in this world. This is the closest to a live-action Family Guy I’ve ever seen,” a sixth tweeted. “Nah this new Ted tv show is surprisingly hilarious and not holding back man,” another wrote.
