Mickey Haller is confirmed to come back for a third outing – here’s everything we know so far about The Lincoln Lawyer Season 3.
Michael Connelly’s car-cruising attorney was first brought to life onscreen by Matthew McConaughey in a 2011 movie before Manuel Garcia-Rulfo took the wheel for a Netflix series.
The show describes him as “an iconoclastic idealist” who runs his law practice out of the back seat of his Lincoln, as he takes on cases big and small across the expansive city of Los Angeles.
Fans’ patience was rewarded today when Part 2 of the second season dropped, but they’ll inevitably wonder: will there be a Season 3 of The Lincoln Lawyer, and when will it come out? Here’s what we know.
The Lincoln Lawyer Season 3 release date
The Lincoln Lawyer Season 3 releases on October 17, 2024.
Season 3 was officially renewed by Netflix in August 2023, with showrunners Ted Humphrey and Dailyn Rodriguez revealing that new episodes will begin with a flashback.
“We decided that a fun (and poignant) way to come into the season would be via a flashback sequence that gave us some insight into how Mickey Haller became Mickey Haller — not just the brilliant criminal defense lawyer, but the husband, the father, and the man that he would come to be,” the pair told Tudum.
The same article also states that The Lincoln Lawyer Season 3 is currently in production.
Who’s in the cast?
Series regular Neve Campbell is set to become a recurring role rather than a main cast member, but it’s expected that the rest of the main Lincoln Lawyer cast will return.
Neve Campbell plays Maggie McPherson, Mickey’s ex-wife and a hard-nosed prosecutor herself.

What will the plot be about?
Though nothing has been confirmed, Season 3 is set to be based on the Michael Connelly novel The Gods of Guilt, picking up where Season 2 left off.
So far, the only plot officially confirmed for the third season is the first stages of the opening flashback. “These images of a young Mickey finishing up surfing before a life-changing day at work, as well as cuddling on the couch with his wife Maggie after putting their young daughter Hayley to bed, are from a pair of these flashback scenes that bookend the first episode and propel us into the rest of Season 3,” Humphrey and Rodriguez also told Tudum.
However, as we know Season 3 will adapt the fifth book in Connelly’s series, and we do have an idea of where the series might go. In the book, Mickey “takes on the case of Andre La Cosse, a “digital pimp” who allegedly murdered Gloria Dayton, an old friend of his.”
This means that The Lincoln Lawyer Season 3 could be about to get a lot more personal, with Gloria telling Mickey to call him if he ever got in trouble back in Season 2.
The Season 2 finale also showed Mickey avoiding being hit by a speeding car, with its driver sending him a message at the same time, which is likely to also be revisited in the opening episodes.
