Tom Holland has finally revealed his “big announcement” after hours of speculation – and it’s safe to say, Spider-Man fans have been left feeling a bit disappointed.
Yesterday, February 5, Holland teased some major news – and, understandably, people immediately thought of Spider-Man 4.
There’s been a lot of rumors recently, whether it’s Jon Watts dropping out as director, the involvement of Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin and Charlie Cox’s Daredevil, or Sony’s alleged interest in getting Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield back in their suits. However, we’ve not heard anything official from Kevin Feige and co. for around a year, and Holland hinted he may not even return to the role.
Spidey doesn’t entirely define Holland, though; who could forget he played Nathan Drake in the Uncharted movie, which is also set to get a sequel. Alas, his announcement is about something completely unrelated.
Tom Holland disappoints Spider-Man fans with “big” news
Holland announced that he’ll star in a West End production of Romeo & Juliet, directed by Jamie Lloyd. You can sign up for priority access tickets now.
No, he hasn’t confirmed he’ll play Spider-Man again, nor did he share any information about the fourth film. While the star’s fans are looking forward to seeing him on stage, they also allowed themselves to get excited… for nothing.

“So no Spider-Man news huh?” one wrote. “That’s cool, I guess, I mean it’s no Spider-Man 4 but hey I like Shakespeare,” another tweeted. “No Spider-Man I guess,” a third wrote.
“I find it really funny how a lot are saying ‘this was the big announcement?’ Holland didn’t even hint at what it was, he only said it was a big announcement and everyone instantly went to it’s a Spider Man announcement, some of y’all are f**king stupid,” another posted.
“I give Tom Holland sh*t sometimes but him saying there is a ‘big announcement’ tomorrow and getting all the Spider-Man fans riled up then the announcement is him returning to theater to be the lead role in a new stage play for Romeo and Juliet is so f**king awesome,” a fifth wrote.
