With an Uncharted 2 movie receiving an exciting update, here’s everything we know about the potential sequel to the video game adaptation, from release date updates to cast details and more.
Uncharted is one of the most beloved PlayStation video game franchises of all time, with the adventures of Nathan Drake known to many gamers. So, when news of a movie adaptation hit, there was a lot of excitement.
Talks about the game’s big screen iteration started all the way back in 2008, but following years of being stuck in development hell, the Uncharted movie finally reached audiences in February 2022. Rather than presenting Drake as the typically middle-aged hero many know and love, Sony opted to focus on a much younger version, played by Tom Holland.
Though it didn’t make it as one of the highest-grossing movies of all time, the film did earn more than $407 million at the box office, as well as a favorable 90% rating from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes. So, it’s no surprise talks of an Uncharted 2 started heating up.
Is there an Uncharted 2 release window?
Given Sony is yet to confirm an Uncharted 2 movie, there is no release window or date at the time of writing.
In August 2023, producer Charles Roven shared his thoughts on the possibility of a second film, stating: “The fans really liked the movie, and people who didn’t know anything about the game really liked the movie. So we are definitely looking to make another one of those.”
When a more concrete release window or date is announced, we’ll be sure to pop it in this section.
Uncharted 2 cast: Who will star in it?
Although no official cast details have been shared, we can assume Tom Holland would reprise his role as Nathan Drake in Uncharted 2. And the same goes for Mark Walberg as Victor “Sully” Sullivan.
Speaking to ScreenRant earlier this year, Walberg said that Sony had called him to say “start growing your mustache” for the sequel, as the script had been written.
“Actually, I just got a call today that they got the script in. I can’t grow a real beard and mustache, but they said, ‘Start growing your mustache. It’s gonna take awhile,'” he explained. “I’d be interested to see what the story’s like, and where that adventure takes us. But I’m excited; I know audiences really loved the first one, so we’ll see.”

We also expect Sophia Ali to be back as Chloe Frazer, while a new actor will likely be cast to portray Nate’s brother Sam. We’ll be sure to keep this space updated as and when cast details emerge.
Uncharted 2: What will the film be about?
No plot details about Uncharted 2 have been released. But given how the first movie wrapped up proceedings, the sequel may see Nate and Sully on a new adventure.
Rather than directly adapting the Uncharted games, the events of the first movie drew from flashbacks of the third game while serving as a prequel story of sorts. We can expect that if the sequel gets the go-ahead, it will follow a similar format.
Another potential character who might come into play is Elena Fisher, Nate’s main love interest in the games. And given how Nate’s brother Sam was introduced in the first film’s post-credits scene, it’s likely he’ll play a role in Uncharted 2.
Of course, this is all just speculation at this point — be sure to check back in with this article as we update it with all the latest details.
