Adam is one of animated adult comedy Hazbin Hotel’s most popular characters. So, which actor voices Heaven’s chief exterminator?
Created by Vivienne Medrano, Hazbin Hotel started out as a Patreon-backed YouTube pilot. This one-off episode quickly amassed a strong following, landing Medrano a series deal on Prime Video.
Along the way, Hazbin Hotel underwent several major and minor creative changes. Notably, Medrano and her team revamped several character designs and recast several vocal performers.
Did any of these shake-ups affect Adam? Read on to find out!
Who voices Adam in Hazbin Hotel?
Alex Brightman voices Adam in Hazbin Hotel. As Adam doesn’t appear in the pilot, Brightman is to date the only performer to play the part.
Brightman also voices another character in Hazbin Hotel: demon antagonist Sir Pentious. Will Stamper voiced Sir Pentious in the pilot, however, wasn’t invited back when Prime Video picked up the series.

Hazbin Hotel isn’t Brightman’s first foray into Medrano’s cartoon universe, either. He also fills two roles – Fizzarolli “Fizz” and “Robo Fizz” – in Hazbin Hotel spinoff series Helluva Boss.
Outside of Hazbin Hotel and Helluva Boss, Brightman’s most high-profile roles have largely been confined to the stage. Notably, he earned Tony Award nominations for his performances in School of Rock and Beetlejuice the Musical. Meanwhile, his film and TV credits include Here Today and The Blacklist.
What is Prime Video’s Hazbin Hotel about?
If you’re late to the Hazbin Hotel party (but somehow made it this far), you’re probably wondering what the show is about. Here’s Amazon Studios’ official synopsis for Season 1:“Hazbin Hotel follows Charlie, the princess of Hell, as she pursues her seemingly impossible goal of rehabilitating demons to peacefully reduce overpopulation in her kingdom. After a yearly extermination imposed by angels, she opens a hotel in the hopes that patrons will be ‘checking out’ into Heaven.
“While most of Hell mocks her goal, her devoted partner Vaggie, and their first test subject, adult film star Angel Dust, stick by her side. When a powerful entity known as the ‘Radio Demon’ reaches out to assist Charlie in her endeavors, her crazy dream is given a chance to become reality.”
Hazbin Hotel’s first season will run for eight episodes, the first four of which dropped on January 18. Episodes 5 and 6 debuted on January 25, while Episodes 7 and 8 premiere on February 1.
