Five Nights at Freddy’s 2: Release date & more

It’s no surprise that the first adaptation of the horror game was a huge success, quickly paving the way for Five Nights at Freddy’s 2.

Five Nights at Freddy’s followed a troubled security guard who worked at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria. While spending his first night on the job, he realized the late shift at Freddy’s wouldn’t be an easy gig.

Based on the hit FNAF game series, the movie followed much of the video game lore, taking the bones of the story from the first installment.

Considering the first movie was the highest-grossing Blumhouse horror, a sequel is no surprise.

Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 release date

Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 will be released in theaters on Friday, December 5, 2025.

FNAF fans, you’re in luck! During Universal Pictures’ CinemaCon panel, the studio officially announced that Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 was in the works.

The sequel is once again produced by Blumhouse. Director Emma Tammi is returning to helm it. In our FNAF interview, she said, “I think we would see our animatronics again. But I also think we would have some new friends to meet as well.”

Filming on the sequel kicks off on October 27, 2024.

What could Five Nights at Freddy’s plot be?

No synopsis has been shared, but Blumhouse did share a tagline: “Anyone can survive five nights. This time, there will be no second chances.”

The plot is being kept under wraps, for now.

Who could be in the FNAF 2 cast?

No announcements have been made about the FNAF 2 cast list yet.

However, we can deduct that Matthew Lillard and Josh Hutcherson will be coming back to reprise their roles as William Afton and Mike. Lillard told Collider in October 2024:

“So this morning, I got a text with my dates. So, my dates are the beginning of November and another series of dates . So, we’re going to work. I’m really thrilled. I think the script’s fantastic.

“[Emma Tammi’s] great. She’s really lovely. And Josh is great. The whole cast is great, and I think we’re all excited to come back.”

Is there a Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 trailer?

There’s no Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 trailer, but one will be released before the movie arrives in December 2025.
