Kai Cenat asked New York City Mayor Eric Adams if Fanum can receive an apology for being “done wrong” by the NYPD after they took his car in 2024.

Back in the summer of 2024, AMP took their streams back to New York City. They had a building rented out to live in, and were also doing some IRL broadcast.

In late July, while at the Dominican Day parade, Fanum was pulled over by New York Police and held at gunpoint. His purple Lamborghini Urus was towed by the NYPD, Fanum’s driver was arrested, and it began a long-standing back-and-forth.

The Twitch streamer threatened the police department with legal action after images surfaced of officers posing with his impounded car. And, after almost a year on, Kai Cenat has asked Mayor Eric Adams if an apology is in order.

“We just had trouble with NYPD and stuff. I feel like we were picked on in a way, NYPD was picking on us in a way. My friend Fanum, he got his car taken away for no reason at one point,” he said.

Kai told Mayor Adams that he felt like police were “taunting” the AMP crew in that scenario too, posing with the car for photos. “We need to look at that,” the mayor told him. “We need to look at that case.”

“Is there a way that Fanum can get an apology for what happened?” Kai asked. “An apology, whether it’s from the police department or some type of apology, because he was done wrong.”

Adams noted that he would need to investigate to see if something was “done wrong” on the police’s side. “Let me see exactly what happened. If something was done wrong, he’ll get an apology. This is news to me. I don’t know exactly what happened,” he told Kai.

The pair also touched on Kai’s troubled PlayStation 5 giveaway, with Adams giving his blessing if Kai wants to try it again with a bit more coordination this time.
