Sentinels Valorant player Hunter ‘SicK’ Mims will not take part in the North American VCT last-chance qualifier, Shahzeb ‘ShahZaM’ Khan has revealed.
The Sentinels captain did not provide a reason for SicK’s absence, but it could be related to the mental ailments that he has been dealing with in recent weeks.
SicK missed the final two weeks of the VCT Stage 2 Challengers due to what Sentinels described as an “ongoing family matter”. Shane ‘Rawkus’ Flaherty, the team’s head coach, filled in for SicK in the group stage matches against FaZe and Cloud9.
The news comes as a blow to Sentinels, who miraculously secured the final spot in the last-chance qualifier on account of Ghost Gaming’s defeat to NRG in the VCT Stage 2 Challengers playoffs.
SicK to miss VCT LCQ
ShahZam broke the news about SicK’s absence for the last-chance qualifier on stream when questioned by a viewer about his teammate’s availability for the tournament.
“SicK is not coming back for LCQ,” ShahZam said. “He is not playing in LCQ.”

A former Counter-Strike professional, SicK has been with Sentinels since the North American organization entered Valorant, in April 2020. He played an integral role as the team dominated the North American region in the game’s first year and won the inaugural international LAN, VCT 2021 Stage 2 Masters Reykjavík.
Sentinels have yet to confirm SicK’s unavailability for the VCT last-chance qualifier, which will take place in August (the exact dates have not yet been announced). On June 22, Sentinels announced that the team would bootcamp ahead of the tournament.
Eight teams will take part in the VCT last-chance qualifier, with the winner joining OpTic Gaming and XSET at Valorant Champions, which will be held in Istanbul, Turkey, from September 2-18.
