Riot Games have officially announced that Valorant, the developer’s first foray into the world of first-person shooters, is coming to players in Summer 2020, and have already revealed the system requirements your PC must meet if you want to play the game.
As with any competitive first-person shooter, Riot’s focus has mainly been on performance, attempting to squeeze out as many frames as possible, and trying to make sure it will run on as many PCs as they can, with the official Valorant website claiming that the developers have designed the game to play at “30 frames per second on most min-spec computers, even dating back a decade.”
Of course, the game can run up to 144 FPS depending on your rig, and Riot have revealed the different hardware requirements for running the game at it’s most basic level, to those hungry for as many frames as possible as they play in pursuit of victory.
Valorant hardware recommendations
While Riot Games aim to allow as many players as possible to try out their tactical FPS, they have been forced to set some minimum recommendations that all PCs will need to meet should they hope to run Valorant at 30 FPS. The game will only be available on Windows at launch, with no word on whether other operating systems will get a chance to enjoy the game in the future.
- Operating System: Windows 7/8/10 64-bit
- RAM: 4GB
- VRAM: 1GB
Valorant minimum specs
For those on old or less-powerful machines, Valorant will run at 30 frames-per-second on the game’s minimum required specs. Of course, 30 FPS will put you at a disadvantage against players who are on computers with higher specifications, but will still allow players to enjoy Valorant without too many issues. Valorant recommended specs
Riot Games recommends that players enjoy the game at 60 FPS, which will allow gamers the ability to follow all the action when things get hectic with gunfights and abilities, without causing too much strain on your machine and creating lag. You can view Riot’s recommended specifications below.
- CPU: Intel i3-4150
- GPU: Geforce GT 730
Valorant high-end specs
For those on high-end gaming PCs, you can run the game at 144 FPS, which is the highest most consumer monitors will allow you to see. Even these aren’t particularly resource-hungry, meaning that if you have purpose-built a gaming computer over the last few years, it should be able to run the game at 144 FPS without any issues.
- CPU: Intel Core i5-4460 3.2GHz
- GPU: GTX 1050 Ti
Riot Games have already released a trailer and a first look at the gameplay that FPS fans can expect to engage in when the title releases in Summer 2020. On top of that, they’ve also revealed an early taste of the characters that will be available in the game, and the abilities players will be able to wield that could swing the momentum of matches if used correctly.
While these specifications give an idea of whether your PC will be able to run the game or not, we’ll not know how Valorant truly performs until its release, which is still a few months away.
