World of Warcraft: Season of Discovery is about to enter a long-awaited second phase, and some in the community would like to see a huge mechanic added to the next centerpiece activity in Gnomeregan.
For those who are unaware, Season of Discovery has a phased leveling system that saw the initial experience capped at Level 25. As part of that, players were able to participate in a new “endgame” experience, a raid adaptation of the Blackfathom Deeps dungeon.
After much speculation, Blizzard has confirmed that Phase Two is set to launch on February 8. As part of that, the level cap is advancing to 40, and players will have a new raid-style activity to get involved in, this time in the Gnomish capital of Gnomeregan.
Now, some players are calling for a major mechanic to be included as part of the PvE offering.
Some players want to suppress World Buffs in Season of Discovery Gnomeregan
In a post on Reddit, one player shared their belief that the new Gnomeregan raid should suppress World Buffs while players are conquering its vast halls.

The thinking behind the request is that the vast temporary boosts offered by World Buffs would enable players to clear the content too quickly. Additionally, this problem could be particularly pronounced when used in conjunction with the bonus powers offered by the Rune Engraving system.
Some players were quick to agree, with one saying: “For Gnomeregan sure, np. Totally agree. But I will fight ANYONE if they think I’ll surrender my 20% movement speed for two hours.”
Another added: “I am a high-parsing kinda guy. I HATE world buffs. I HAVE to get them basically to enjoy competing with everyone else. I wish they’d get rid of them. If I can’t have that, at least let the boon eat the stupid 5% Ashenvale buff so I can play my own character while not logging in for the 20-minute raid… If I can’t have THAT… Please let Ashenvale buff no longer work on players above 26!”
With the increased focus on World Buffs in Season of Discovery, it’s unlikely that this will happen in the next phase. That said, they will inevitably have to balance the difficulty of the activity with the increased prowess of player characters in Season of Discovery.
