As My Hero Academia barrels towards the last half of the season four, a panel for the show at Anime Japan in March fuels speculation that fans might get an announcement for the fifth season sooner than imagined.
My Hero Academia originally made its debut as a manga in the iconic Weekly Shōnen Jump magazine in 2014, but exploded in popularity with its 2016 anime adaptation by Studio Bones.
The series is currently in its fourth season arc, and has recently passed the halfway point of its 25 episode order, however an announcement that the show will be at the Anime Japan convention in March has stirred up season five speculation.

Traditionally, announcements are tied to the finale of the current season, and while a date for it hasn’t been officially revealed, based off the current release schedule it should be around the end of March or at the beginning of April which puts it around the time of this panel.

Though it’s easy to speculate that something will get revealed at the panel due to the importance of the event and given how close it is to the finale, it should be noted it would be breaking tradition with past announcements.
Seasons two through four have all been announced in Weekly Shōnen Jump right before the finale, and confirmed as the final episode airs, which makes it more likely it will get its reveal in the magazine.
Despite the current arc not even being currently finished, fans are always eager to hear what is next for their favorite heroes, and who knows, maybe the popular series will try something different this year.
Only time will tell what Studio Bones’ plans are for the fifth season, but one thing that’s clear is that they have grown the anime series into one of the most popular brands in the world, so more episodes are a given.
My Hero Academia is currently entering its final half of season four, and can be watched on Funimation and Crunchyroll.
