Apex Legends’ next Town Takeover event looks set to be based around Bloodhound and might well begin at the end of this month, according to new information found in the game’s code following the Override update.
The battle royale title has already had three Town Takeover events since its release in February last year. Octane’s added a racecourse filled with launch pads and fire, while Wraith’s summoned a huge teleporting portal above King’s Canyon.
Most recently, Mirage celebrated Christmas with the arrival of his ‘Mirage Voyage’ on World’s Edge. The self-centered trickster’s limited-time event also added an X-Mas train that barreled around the map for just over a week.
Since Mirage’s holiday takeover, Respawn have been relatively quiet about which legend would be the next to get a dedicated event, but a change in the game’s code looks to have finally provided us with the details we need.
Bloodhound’s Town Takeover has been in the title’s base code for some time, but after the Override update, data miners have discovered even more details about the Technological Tracker’s upcoming big day.
When will Bloodhound’s Town Takeover start?
According to newly-added files loaded into the Apex Legends code, and confirmed by info revealed by popular data miner Shrugtal, the takeover’s teasers will begin in-game at the end of the month on Tuesday, March 31.
Last time around, these teasers took the form of work zones surrounding the area in World’s Edge, where Mirage’s colorful barge would eventually land. Considering Bloodhound’s event will likely be similar, the teasers could take the same form.
Knowing the start date for the in-game teasers also allows us to extrapolate that into when the event itself may launch. Most early previews come a week before the actual takeovers, meaning we’d be looking at April 7 this time around.

Where will the new Town Takeover be located?
So far we’ve seen two takeovers on King’s Canyon — Octane’s and Wraith’s — while Mirage dropped his special event onto the edge of World’s Edge.
Right now, there’s no clear indication of where Bloodhound’s new area of interest will actually appear, for a few reasons. Primarily, King’s Canyon is set to return mid-season, meaning both maps will be available for the first time.
The return of the original Apex map is likely only for the ranked series playlist, however, and it would be a surprise if Respawn released their fourth Town Takeover in their battle royale just for the competitive side of the game.
If the takeover lands on King’s Canyon, expect to see it land somewhere near Wetlands and Swamps on the right side of the map — as well as it being an empty space, it fits Bloodhound’s lore and tracking personality to a tee.
Conversely, there are two unused spaces Bloodhound could ‘take over’ in the game’s newer map. To the left of Skyhook has never been used, while the large area to the side of Dome also fits the Tracker’s swampy aesthetic.
Dexerto has also found new code — “canyonlands_MU2_CommonMapInit” — which suggests we could see a newer version of King’s Canyon (originally marked ‘MU0’ before becoming ‘MU1’ in Season 2), so there’s every chance the original map is the more likely destination for Bloodhound’s big event.
For now, we’ll just have to wait for official confirmation from Respawn about the exciting new takeover. The developers have never commented on Town Takeover leaks before, so the first time we see anything new could be in-game on March 31.
Whether they comment or not, however, it looks like there’s a lot of exciting new content on the way at the end of the month. For now though, Apex players can still take full advantage of the Override update, which ends on March 17.
